The Matrix was written by women.
That's how Hollywood works.https://trekmovie.com/2021/03/10/ex...s-pitched-a-new-star-trek-movie-to-paramount/
Soon there will be more pitches than actual movies!

I mean the book that is often cited across academia as the "ignoration of science fiction" was written by a woman.I think there was a lady named Dorothy involved with writing Star Trek.
I don't even think that's true. It's more just what the market wants.I’m not even so sure I’d call it an “agenda...” Its more like core/fundamental to what Trek is.
If by that you mean Kelvin Trek, I agree it has a lot of potential. ST in general seems terrified of the independent-minded writer/director (and too many of the fans seem to hate or fear him as well); the Kelvintrekverse might make a good sandbox for such a person to play in.JJTrek is an open canvas, it should be explored.
Another thing was I trust Tarantino and his nostalgia of cinema; I felt he could've done something special and honor Star Trek. From what I read he expressed an enthusiastic love for TOS and with his choices of bringing back actors he loved from his youth and catapulting them to reinvigorated relevance. It would be an interesting element if he made those kinds of choices for his Star Trek, creating a pocket world set in TOS universe. The way he expressed his confusion of the ridiculous multi-timeline nonsense showed his vision was not set in the JJTrek reality. I agree, Viacom should've encouraged him to go forth with this venture; a space western for the ages. Any fears of him guttering Star Trek with F-bombs and inappropriate gore like what Kurtzman has done with those CBS+Paramount streamings hasn't seen his TV work.
Tarantino knows what Star Trek is and would honor what the series was great at and that's adventure. He directed several episodes of E.R.; he didn't draw attention to his episodes by having excessive blood or characters speaking foul language where there were other episodes done by other writers and directors which had. I believe in his understanding of Star Trek, he would play by the rules and wouldn't ruin the magic that is lost today.
Trek doesn't need a game changer. Tarantino was not it, nor is McFarlane. Both have their own box like view of Star Trek that won't allow anything to change outside of what they like.
I think the studio is trying to test the waters and not take much risk, which Tarantino would be a huge risk. If this film goes forward and does well maybe Hawley gets a chance. At least from my perspective.
I think Tarantino would do his Tarantino thing and no one would be willing to say no. Which is why I don't trust him with any existing franchise. I believe he would play by his rules not Star Trek's rules.
Mileage will vary if that is a good thing or not. I personally don't think so. But, I am very biased.
She's one of those currently "hot" writers. She's worked a lot in recent years and has a new contract for movies and TV. She still has a lot to prove though.I'll believe it the first day cameras actually roll. This is like the 5th script to be commissioned.

Imagine the fanrage if they did a Kelvin universe movie on the Strange New Worlds/Discovery sets. It makes perfect logical sense to do so (as it did with Star Trek V and VI) but fans would never get over it.I thought it weird at first that they were getting a script writer first before director but then I realised at least TWOK and maybe TMP did the same thing. I think it would be neat if it's just some small scale thing that they're not going to spend a bunch on but actually try and give it a go. Use the Discovery sets between filming seasons and just make a two hour film. The film itself might be hot garbage but I'm always interested just to see the stuff get made at least.
From what I can tell Bad Robot's deal with Paramount/Star Trek is over. As for Kurtzman ( who is not a part of Bad Robot) his deal is a pretty new one, so you might have a long wait. He's the Trek czar for the foreseeable future. Y'all need to start typing Secret Hideout instead of Bad Robot.IMO, nothing is getting green lit or made until bad Robot n Kurtzman contract runs out. Emma Watts is not a fan seems to want to take ST on a better trajectory n sounds good to me.
