There are some messed up people in this world..

I'd feel better if the Bieber hate was directed at the record companies and marketing people that use him to make gazillions of dollars. Put yourself in Bieber's shoes, sure, you are world famous and getting to do something you love, but you're also being forced to live your life a certain way, conform to a manner prescribed by your managers at the dictation of PR gurus and sponsors. The poor guy is probably unable to go out for a walk around his town/city, without encountering screaming fans or people who hate him.

I don't think they would've succeeded anyway. The guy's probably got 50 bodyguards, not to mention some 50,000 screaming teenaged girls who would gladly take a bullet for him.

I don't like any of Bieber's music (then again I'm an adult male closing in on 40, so I was never one of his target audiences to begin with) and I think the conveyor belt/mass production/disposable-plastic-product-for-the-kiddies approach to current pop music is hurting an awful lot of it, but any human being who'd plot the maiming and murder of a teenage pop star is beneath contempt and either needs long term and serious psychiatric treatment or a lengthy prison sentence.

If you're mad at or don't like Bieber/ the Jonas Brothers / Miley Cyrus / One Direction / etc. then just don't listen to them and avoid as much of their product and publicity as you can. 99.9999% of the folks who were upset with or couldn't stand 98 Degrees, NSync or the Backstreet Boys didn't listen to or have anything else to do with them or their music, they didn't go all Martin Sheen from the end of Apocalypse Now and plot to hack them to death.

Don't feel sorry for Bieber. The kid has made millions and will be making even more now that he is over 18.

He could quit any time he wanted to.

Such complex ethical questions do demand careful consideration.

But in the end--while it was bold, as you say--I think his position was the correct one. So, kudos to him.

It's just a detail of the weird ass murder fantasy. Like the bodyguard. The Biebs probably has a team of bodyguards rotated in and out by the security contract company. And yet, the "mastermind" of this affair wants a bodyguard murdered with the target of his "affection (he has the kid tattooed on his leg)." WTF is that? I don't think you can apply real world logic.

I'd rather have a few million and be a nobody than have multiple millions and not be able to go to the store. It's kind of weird when you could buy any store you want but you can't wander around one all by yourself without massive attention.
