Justice League: Doom Announced for 2012 Dwayne McDuffie's last script

Re: Justice League: Doom Announced for 2012 Dwayne McDuffie's last scr

I'm wondering if it'll have the same continuity/cast as JL: Crisis on Two Earths. I kinda hope it doesn't, though, since the JL voice cast in that one was kind of unimpressive.

I don't think so. It's an adaption of Mark Waid's excellent "Tower of Babel" story line where Ra's Al Ghul exposes Batman's Justice League contingency files as well as holds hostage the corpses of Bruce's parents.

I remembered that being a Grant Morrison storyline... guess I was wrong.

That WAS a great story. Poor Plastic man...

HEY, that means Plas will be in this one. Awesome.

I always thought this would be a great story for " the Near Apocalypse of 2009" mentioned by Terry in Batman Beyond.

I'm actually really, really excited for this project. It's going to be interesting when the voice cast is announced.

Unlikely, since nearly all of these DC animated films have been separate from one another, continuity-wise, and the previous JL animated films had different voice casts.

But they've already made one exception to that pattern -- Superman/Batman: Apocalypse was a sequel to Superman/Batman: Public Enemies, with the same cast and continuity. And the producers considered sequels to Wonder Woman and Green Lantern: First Flight, but those projects were shelved due to disappointing sales of the originals. So it's not like they have some absolute prohibition against doing sequels.

Bittersweet news, this...

I never suggested they did. As I said above, nearly all have been separate from one another. Of course Superman/Batman have been the exception given that Apocalypse followed directly on from Public Enemies (as did the comic stories they were adapted from). However, there has been no indication as of yet that Doom will be a sequel to Crisis on Two Earths anymore than Batman: Year One will be a prequel to Under the Red Hood.

If anything, given the stories involved, and how they are likely not direct continuations of each other, it is more likely they will not be connected (despite the writer involved).

Re: Justice League: Doom Announced for 2012 Dwayne McDuffie's last scr

^Exactly. They essentially adapted the first and second arcs of "Superman/Batman" so it's natural they would keep the same cast and continuity. As I pointed out this is entirely different from "Justice League Crisis on Two Earths" it's adapted from an JLA arc. Sigh.

Re: Justice League: Doom Announced for 2012 Dwayne McDuffie's last scr

^ Exactly. I guess they could force it into being a sequel if they wanted to. However, it that was the case, it would likely have referenced it as such in the press-release.

As it is now, this is no more a sequel to Crisis on Two Earths than Crisis on Two Earths is a sequel to New Frontier.

^Yep. I love when I have to keep repeating myself in threads.

Look, all I said was that I wondered if it was possible it might be -- and that I'd prefer it if it weren't. So I don't need the lectures, guys. It was just an idle musing.

That's an ironic statement coming from you dude.

??

I was just expanding on your musings, which is what happens on discussion boards. If anything, I'd figure you'd be reassured since you didn't like the previous casting. No need to get all bent out of shape, especially if your preferences are being reaffirmed.
