Just Wondering... Is anyone else learning Vulcan?

Spock .

Vulcans are by far my favorite aliens in Star Trek, and Spock is my favorite character. I am trying to learn Vulcan via an online dictionary with some Vulcan tips. I know that a lot more people are learning Klingon, but I feel that Vulcan is another important sci-fi language. Any tips?

Unlike Klingon, we simply don't know that much of the Vulcan language from canon sources and officially licensed materials. The stuff out there on the interwebz about the Vulcan language(s) is basically a fandom extrapolation of the small amounts of Vulcan dialog that we heard in TMP, TWOK and TSFS, also including the even smaller smattering of Vulcan terms that were mentioned in TOS.

I understand that Mark Gardner's "Vulcan Language Institute" had the most widely accepted version of the language. But the site has been down for years, apparently with no hope of ever coming back, and it isn't even available on the Internet Archive. However, it seems that at some point around 2004 somebody else compiled those materials into a book, which is available here as a pdf. It has sections on grammar, verb tenses, language lessons, etc.

And here's a kind of overview of the history of the Vulcan language(s) in fandom.

Thanks. My sister and I are really enjoying learning Vulcan even if it's not 100% canon. We have the ears, the uniforms, and we're working on the language :).

The book was available on Amazon, and there are lessions on YouTube I have started to listen to.
Too bad I bought the book before I saw this PDF file of it.

I've got some of the basic words and phrases, like "Diftor heh smusma", which is "Live long and prosper", but that's about it for right now.

For those who are learning from the lessons in the book or PDF, on YouTube there are videos per lession.
Also look into Everyday Vulcan videos, I will be switching to them.
