The shuttles look almost exactly like the shuttles from Insurrection and Nemesis.

Just take the nacelles off the top and there you go.

I actually thought it was cool that the Kelvin-era shuttles looked pretty much like realistic TOS-era shuttles.

Actually, one element that really impressed me was how 'real' it all felt. This is something Trek has never got right for me. Something as simple as the struts on the shuttle just made me think this was a real universe that was actually plausible- previous Treks, all of them, have usually been a little too sterile to be quite believable.
