Just when you think you've seen it all.

You've gotta believe, man.

There ARE so many things wrong with it. And, yes, it is always tragic when idiots force their ignorance on others.

Sadly, nothing involving textbooks in this country surprises me anymore.

By the way love your avatar. That is one of my favorite scenes in Games of Thrones.

Thanks! :)

I wish I could fit a retrospective of all the great slapping Joffrey scenes by Tyrion and Cersei together in one avatar on an endless loop, but it was not meant to be. Maybe even throw in the kid who plays Joffrey getting pushed/slapped by the fake cop in Batman Begins too, just because that kid has a face made for slapping the hell out of it.

Sigh... There has been plenty of transitional species discovered.

I wish I could say I am surprised to see this, but sadly, I'm not. And yes, there are indeed, so many things wrong with this.

Hmm you have to really go through some pseudo-scientific gymnastics to argue such a thing, but I do remember that Biblically this belief is typically justified from this passage from Job 40:15-24, which describes the Behemoth:

Behold now the behemoth that I have made with you; he eats grass like cattle.
Behold now his strength is in his loins and his power is in the navel of his belly.
His tail sways like a cedar; the sinews of his thighs are knit together.
His limbs are as strong as copper, his bones as a load of iron.
His is the first of God's ways; his Maker can draw His sword.
For the mountains bear food for him, and all the beasts of the field play there.
Does he lie under the shadows, in the cover of the reeds and the swamp?
Do the shadows cover him as his shadow? Do the willows of the brook surround him?
Behold, he plunders the river, and does not harden; he trusts that he will draw the Jordan into his mouth.
With His eyes He will take him; with snares He will puncture his nostrils.

I remember being taught this growing up to justify the idea that humans and dinosaurs lived side-by-side. Of course... now I see how silly an idea that is, but I was raised in similar Biblio-scientific apologetics.

Yeah, this is sad, to be sure, but it's no surprise. Some people take great pride in ignorance.

I'm probably overthinking this, but I don't even understand their argument.

Let's say Nessie does really exist, how would the survival of a few isolated dinosaur species prove T-Rexs still lived a couple thousand years ago?

I think the primary goal is to shorten the age of the Earth to less than 10,000 years. Evolution gets in the way because it takes too long, as does the whole time line that's been inferred scientifically.

The dinosaurs can't be totally ignored, because of those damn fossils.

Btw. if anyone could prove the existence of a plesiosaur in Loch Ness within the last couple thousand years (let alone a live one), that would mean instant world fame for that person and for sure a lifetime of lucrative lectures at all the most famous universities on the planet. There's no scientist on the planet who would ignore that opportunity.

eta43226: fucking hell, how many spelling errors can I pack into that paragraph?

GODZILLA! How did I not put it together before? It's even in the name: Godzilla!!!

And while I'm digging Jesus and Nessie, nothing beats Jesus cradling baby raptor. He loved all god's creatures...even the ones who could only survive by brutally goring and eating others. Awwwwwwwwww.

I seriously cannot fathom how you Americans can possibly let it happen that the people in your country develop back to the Middle Ages.
