Actually, that's the only thing that bothers me about this episode as well... Maybe aside from the obvious emotional impact, his being tied to his father may have a more physical effect as well... At least, that's my explanation - and voilà, problem solved, back to enjoying this episode.

The Visitor is a stunning piece of work. Whenever I watch it I turn into a quivering puddly piece of goo.

I've watched it every Father's Day for the past 4 years, and I get the same reaction. It's the most powerful father-son love story I've ever encountered.
