Just Started Stargate Atlantis

I was referring to Joe Flanigan in particular. There were a number of stories out of that show about the writers/producers having contempt for the actors.

That stemmed from a fan conspiracy theory based simply on the fact that when Mallozzi listed the people he'd miss, Joe wasn't one of them. Given some of his behaviour since the cancellation though, it wouldn't be that surprising if Flanigan wasn't well liked. He's insulted the producers and tried to rile up the fans every chance he's got, totally unproffesional, no wonder all he's managed since Atlantis is a Syfy movie and some 80's Desney-esque crap.

This doesn't surprise me he really never liked being away from his wife and family and made that known from the start and he certainly didn't have RDA's chrisma. David Hewitt stole the show away from him anyway and I doubt if he liked that too much.

Even in Season 5, where it's clear the writers hate the show and want their precious SGU,

So that's why they wanted to do a season 6 (they even had story outlines for the season) and even wrote a movie script after the cancellation?

And the writers have been shown to be quite arrogant and pompous over routinely lying to the fans in their blogs and in interviews

Any example? Or is it just another "fact"?

So when SGU came around, and the casting was so mediocre that there was nobody to really latch onto

That's not true. Way better actors than the ones on Atlantis (even if David Hewlett and Bob Picardo are quite good)

Well I see I have a lot to look forward to..

Watched Duet last night. As soon as I saw that the two people were trapped in the dart transporter I said, "this will either be Tuvix or Turnabout Intruder." What we got was so much worse than either of those, LOL

Yeah, "Duet" sucks. "Trinity", "Aurora", and "The Tower" are all pretty good.

Not going to get into a fight with the SGU fanboys flooding in here to defend their beloved 2-season show with the lowest ratings in Stargate history because the rhetoric would just heat up, derail the thread and get it locked as the snideness is starting to rise in some other posters. This isn't my thread, it's not all of your thread either, it's ^'s thread. All the above arguments are blatantly pro-SGU writers. Thanks for revealing your position. I'll go talk to a wall since I know that would be more productive. Yeah, SGA-SGU is a minefield ahead, mines laid by the writers and the producers.

Sounds to me like you're the only one here with unnecessarily strong opinions about this.

It's just Stargate.

Surely not! Based on the previous thread, he hasn't seen SGU, so his arguments must be the most unbiased and least worked up out of everyone! ;-)

It's just Stargate.

heh..

I was actually tossing up buying the first season of SGA or SGU as they were both the same price. Someone IRL had just been raving to me that SGU was the BEST SCI FI EVER.. but I didn't exactly respect this person's opinion as they refused to watch DS9 as they said it was a "soap opera". And I kind of like the word "Atlantis" for some reason. However what clinched it for me was asking my kid which one we should get and he begged me not to get SGU as he'd seen a couple eps and thought it was beyond horrible (14 yr old, has seen all of Trek). Of course I'm looking fwd to seeing it now because of such diverse opinions.

I at least have to see the one ep with Hewlett in it because of teh hotness.

Your 14-year old may not have liked it because, unlike SG-1 and Atlantis, SGU tries to be a much more "adult" show. It is also a lot slower-moving. It is certainly not without its flaws, but I think it's worth trying out. I know that I enjoyed it, and I was really upset when it ended.

Teacake, S1 of SGU didn't really entertain me much, there were a few high points here and there, but, no characters I really enjoyed watching. S2, first half started to be more entertaining and didn't feel as much like a chore. S2, 2nd half, almost all 10 episodes were very good or better, the Characters were really clicking for the Actors and the Writers, the Mythology was becoming more exciting, etc.

I would've welcomed more SGU, if it was offered.
