Just came back from seeing Star Trek.
Wow I loved it! Honestly the movie made its best effort to keep what worked in the original series and gave it the epic action oriented scope that the TNG (and to some extend the TOS) movies severely lacked.
I was expecting to be dissapointed in the casting of the movie, but found that everyone actually did a great job in it, the weakest link perhaps Uhura (but the character only had a minor role anyway).
I thought Chris Pine was going to totally suck as Kirk, but damn he won me over in like 20 seconds. He got "Kirk" without having to get "Shatner" which was great.
Zachary as Spock was brilliant casting, as well as Karl Urban as McCoy.
Seeing Leonard Nemoy in the role again brought back good memories, but reminded me how much he has actually aged, I almost felt bad for him as a person. I hope Leonard is with us for a long time, but that may not be the case for long
All in all, I went expecting a 70% quality movie from what I had seen, and it actually ended up being closer to 90%
