Just moved: Comic book shop and used book store recommendations

Hello all,

I just moved to Los Angeles, near the West Hollywood/Hollywood area and I am looking for the best comic book store and used book store in the city (or really, in that area.)

I just moved from NYC, so I'm looking to replace Midtown comics and the Strand Book store.

Recommendations?

Jay and Silent Bob's Secret Stash is a cool place. Not sure if I would make it my regular place, but it is worth going to once.

Its not in the city but if you find yourself in Orange County try The Little Old Bookstore in Whittier on Greenleaf. The owner is a friend of a friend so I go there whenever I can. He stocks hard to find Golden Age Scifi for relatively cheap and the large basement is 1/2 scifi. He also has some graphic novels for cheap that have drifted in. Then, without getting back in your car, you can go down Washington(sidestreet) and eat at the Fire House bar and grill while you read. Up the street from that is a comic shop. They're strictly new releases, though, and Warhammer/D&D table gaming.

There a place we used to go years ago. Haven't been there in a decade, but it's evidently still around. Not a shop, though, and not sure if it's anything like it used to be.

It's a drive for you, but for a Saturday.

Professor Zoom, you'll find after you've been here a while that there are TONS of great little hole in the wall, mom'n'pop comic shops all over town. There are several all along Ventura Blvd between Sherman Oaks and Studio City, and there's a nice one up at Universal City Walk. There are a few in Culver City/Marina Del Rey on Washington Blvd and Venice Blvd.... and even in Burbank and Glendale there are some good spots. Really, Google Maps will be able to point them all out. Golden Apple on Melrose is somewhat overrated, but still nice. Just a general FYI. :)

If you're ever in the South Bay area the Comic Bug in Manhattan Beach is my favorite around here. Good combination of new titles, back issues, and dollar bin comics you will actually want.

Golden Apple on Melrose is a pretty well known comic shop.

Meltdown comics on Sunset I hear is really huge, but I haven't been there yet.

Who is your avatar? And has she posed topless anywhere?

Alice Goodwin. Yes, that's pretty much what she does.

I was going to mention the one at Universal City Walk. I've found some nice stuff there.

Thanks, brother...(Google-searches her)...marvelous!
