Just how GOOD is Ciroc Lofton

Kelsey Grammer was the only bad thing about Frasier. Unfortunately, being the lead, he was in virtually every scene. His acting is so ham-fisted and over-the-top. He could take lessons in subtlety from every single one of his cast mates. Though I will say his voice work in animation is generally good. As long as I don't have to see him spazzing all over a set, I'm fine with him.

But give me Cirroc or any one of a thousand other actors over Kelsey Grammer any day.

I completely agree. Especially about him being the only bad thing about Fraiser. The rest of the cast was great...and when I watched that show, it was very much IN SPITE of Kelsey Grammer rather than because of him. Further, all the characters on that show were alot more interesting and entertaining than the character of Fraiser! Even Eddie the Dog was more interesting and fun to watch.

I may be in the minority here, but I always enjoyed the way Kelsey Grammer acted as Frasier. The character of Frasier was so pompous and over the top that I found that style fit him.

It's true all the Cheers characters were cartoons 75% of the time, and they kept that formula going with Frasier. Most of the sitcoms are that way, cartoon characters who, once an episode or so, have a non-cartoon moment.

Cirroc matches Brooks and the rest of the cast very well, though sometimes with heavier emotional scenes he doesn't do as well as the more experienced actors at the time. But he was above-average in that episode where Sisko was winking in and out of time throughout Jake's life. A-grade episode that was. Though I wonder why in hell they didn't use an older actor for the future Nog character. Having tiny Nog appear as a Captain was pretty silly.

Because Aron Eisenberg is (AND was then) an adult. He has a medical condition that stunted his growth.

^Well, because Ferengi are smaller than hoo-mans. Aron was 24 when DS9 started, nearly 27 when "The Visitor" aired, even though he played the teenaged-Nog. I didn't think it was unreasonable at all to simply age him for the role of the elder-Nog.

I actually think it's kind of neat to see that aspect of what Starfleet is - that no matter one's size, no matter one's race, one can still work hard and achieve respect and position.

That should surely end the Lofton/Grammer debate, shouldn't it?

If Cirroc Lofton is as good as all of you claim him to be, then wouldn't he have been discovered for his brilliance by now like James Dean was back in the day? Or, Marlon Brando for that matter?

Wouldn't casting directors go:

"Man, this guy jumps off the page and the screen! I want him! Let's make a bid to sign him up right now!"

If he really wants to get noticed, he should be out there hitting the pavement like any other actor who worked diligently to get noticed and build their talent and reputation in Hollywood like the following actors did from the start of their careers until they reached their level of Hollywood success:

I mean, if he is not being noticed by Hollywood, then how about performing live theatre and hone his craft which Patrick Stewart and Ian McKellan started out in and thrived in for years before their big breaks in Hollywood? Somehow, I don't buy the fact that Cirroc Lofton is thie "GREAT ACTOR!" that all of you purport him to be. He was above average and solid for what he did, but if he was so good and serious about his craft and was recognized for his dramatic accomplishments as a supporting child actor on television, then he would be onto greater things in acting by now.

But, where is he now?

If he is so good, with 10 years having passed since DS9 went off the air, surely that would have been enough time for him to build up enough reputation in the theatre circles or in a Hollywood production by now? Either he hasn't been trying hard enough to do whatever it takes to hone his craft and make it in Hollywood, or he got shafted by Hollywood casting directors as "that science-fiction kid" and was overlooked. Surely, with his good looks, they would have at least cast him on a TV show like "One Tree Hill," "The O.C." or even "90210," but they even overlooked him there.

He was known in Hollywood as the kid who played Jake Sisko "every 3 episodes on Deep Space Nine," and that was it.

He really needs to build up his acting resume like his co-stars Avery Brooks, Rene Auberjonois, Armin Shimmerman, Nana Visitor, Andrew J. Robinson, Colm Meaney, and Alexander Siddig before he is in the same league to be heaped that level of praise.

You have contracticed yourself. Ealier you said Hollywood is all about having connections and now you are telling Cirroc to hit the pavement and work hard to get noticed. Very rarely do people achieve success in Hollywood by working hard. Usually it works by the Hollywood casting couch, being jewish, being a closeted gay, having looks, having friends in high places and even better, Nepotism.

As for Cirroc Lofton and his acting abilities, he was average at best. He certainly was not cringe worthy, though he was not standout material either. He missed a few of the emotional scenes, but it was not a major disappointment. Unfortunately the writers didn't do much with his character. A previous poster suggested that he could have worked for Quark, that would have been a great idea.
