Concerning "The Alternative Factor", I still can't decide if the story premise was faulty, or if the director just screwed up the episode. It seems like it had the potential to be a decent ST show, but it just failed in certain ways. Leo Penn certainly had no problem directing "The Enemy Within" which featured similar setups/conflicts with a dual character. Maybe I just dislike it because it's a Don Ingalls script, and I'm not a big fan of his ST contributions.

I think it's a combination of both. Even if we could easily tell the Lazari apart, the part is so inconsistently written it's very difficult to keep his motivations straight. There was some potential there, and Kirk's last line could have been haunting, but, unfortunately, it's not realized...

Trials & tribble-Lations or however it's spelt is a good one to watch & I can't stand DS9. Ive always found S3 hard going, almost cringeworthy to watch, & yes I hve no idea how I survived 11yrs without anything trek. Always tried to secretly watch when YouTube had full episodes at work lol but now every night is trek night at home lol
I only started watching TOS in July.My most favorite episode is also BOT and I have seen most episodes from season one and two 4-10 times. I had a hard time getting through season 3 in the first place. So far I have only watched season three episodes once or twice. Fell asleep every single time during several season 3 episodes (whenever Kirk is missing for longer than 5 minutes I start to doze off. Monotone puts me to sleep without fail).
I also fell asleep while watching supposedly one of the most exciting DS9 episodes.

I know I've been through the series a dozen times easily. So that means that I've seen my favorites probably a hundred times each.
EDIT: I've probably spent more time watching Star Trek than having sex... and that's just sad.
