But what will he do with it? Not sure I cared for the end of the Reef saga-preferred Sundiver or Uplift War. If he does a stand-alone...

Hmmm, I'm not sure.

I really did like the series, but I'm not sure I'm very interested in story set after Heaven's Reach (the last book of the 2nd trilogy) - That seemed to wrap up the story quite a bit, BUT unfortunately not in a way I hoped...

Startide Rising was IMO by far the best book of the series. It's too bad none of the latter books could top it.
