Just finished watching Day Break, enjoyed it

***** CONTAINS SPOILERS INCLUDING THE LAST EPISODE *****

Managed to watch it after wanting to see it for ages. Time Loop storylines are one of my favourites and I have to say this was pretty good. The downside was I had to stop and start over a period of a few weeks so I couldn't get consistency.

Some of it was clever, the one about the other person also repeating the day had a nice resolution, unoriginal but still clever joke at the end of it (about biting him), and great weaving of story and characters arcs through all 13 episodes.

The finale was a slight let down as I expected more of an impact to him breaking the cycle, although in a way I liked the fact it wasn't a big deal that he suddenly was free - although thinking about it, who could he tell?? The last shot was a great tease, and it was nice for once that the reason for him breaking the cycle was never fully revealed.

Aside from Taye Diggs, I didn't think much of the casting. Mitch Pileggi is too much of a character actor to be seen as anything other than a dodgy cop, his partner (while I felt for the character) didn't seem to gel with the rest of the cast, his girlfriend, while amazing to look at at 6:18 every morning, just seemed to go round with a confused look on her face and as for Adam Baldwin, I keep expecting him to take out Vera any second.

In a way I'm glad it wasn't picked up for year two, as it really works best as a stand alone series. If I see the DVDs in a bargain bin sometime I just might buy it.

Day Break was a very clever show. But probably too clever for its own good. When the main character can't follow the plot, you know the audience is getting hopelessly lost.

If only there were such a thing as a DVD-only TV series. Putting out Day Break as, say, a 40 episodes self-contained series would have been amazing. The series would really benefit from people being able to go back and review previous episodes and see new correlations that passed them by the first time.

Great series. The "resolving something right keeps it resolved" thing was a bit convenient, but not in a bad way.

The main problem I had was there were one too many plot lines that I wasn't interested in, such as the Crusher - sorry - Latin Disciples selling the weapons, although after seeing the finale it all made sense and so I wished I HAD paid more attention to all of it. I knew most of it would be in there for a reason, like the seeding of Rita's phone call from Billy as early as the second episode, the other repeater, his sister's bruises, etc.

Yeah, depending on the extras we get offered in Region 4 I probably will pick this up.

I enjoyed the show, but the conspiracy was extremely convoluted. Someone mapped out the conspiracy and posted it online somewhere and it was a giant mess.

I guess if someone was that determined to get you, you'd be screwed no matter how much of it you figured out because you wouldn't be able to relive the same day over and over again.

Question - what was the chemical injected into Brett's neck in the first episode? It didn't really seem to play a part in the rest of the series.

Was it simply a tranquiliser, to which he would wake up again the following day anyway?

I agree about the conspiracy - why did they bother to kill Garza and frame Hopper when if they had just waited 24 hours they could have blown them all away at the courthouse!
