June Writing Challenge--A Foreign Perspective

Nerys Ghemor

Believe it or not, I actually plan to sit this one out. I'm on what I think is the final act of the Round Robin over at Ad Astra, so I may not have any time to write here.

Plus...I spend an entire series on the task I'm about to set before you.

What I would like to see is this: a foreign perspective on the Federation. This can be at any point in its history, any timeline (though please tag it with spoilers if you give away anything from Trek XI!). Your goal is to show how aliens not belonging to the Federation...think about them. How they might relate, or not relate. Is that attitude positive or negative? Why? That's all your choice! Be creative! Make us feel what it's like to see through their eyes, hear through their ears!

Word limit: 5000 words.

Entry due date: midnight (Central Daylight Time), the night of 30 June

OK - I'm in. The first quarter of the story is up, with thee rest over the next week. I just wanted to get the concept claimed:

Gods Tears

I think that's got to rate as the fastest entry!

6 hour difference in posts.

And you don't think 6 hours, start to finish is fast?

Excuse me while I go and scratch out my story on a piece of slate... ;)

Slate? They let you use slate? When I got here they gave me a piece of sidewalk chalk and told me to get to it. ;) I don't mind too much except its a bitch waving my HP scanner/copier over the patio out back when I'm finished with a story.

You have chalk?

I'm still using cuneiform and mud. :(

Mud? Ah, I remember how as a lad I used to dream of mud. We were lucky to get one dull stick each year to carve letters in our own flesh - and grateful for it! :scream:

I have boots for sale if any of you need them. Don't want you getting your shoes dirty with the muck piling up around here.:alienblush:

Well having completely missed last month's contest I might well enter this one. I didn't even get chance to vote last month, I've been really heavily focused on publishing my first novel online, thankfully that's mostly out of the way so I can get back to actually writing again! Anyway I have an idea for this...
