June Foray has passed away

I'm a bit embarrassed that I did not know who she was considering how many of her voice roles were a part of my childhood.
RIP and thank you.

When I was a kid I used to imitate her Natasha: Look Boris! Is Moose and Squirrel!
I never knew her name though...

Witch Hazel is a character co-owned by Warner and Disney. Each had their own cartoon in the works, featuring a character called "Witch Hazel", each hired June Foray to do the voice (and she kept it a secret from both of them!), and both cartoons were released the same week. As a result of the release dates being so close, a judge said that neither company had an exclusive claim on the character. June Foray was canny and smart, methinks, in regards to Witch Hazel.

I read it. Not really someone I'd know or recognize one's work.

Janet Waldo last year at 96, now Foray at 99. She was a real legend among voice actors, and always seemed such a good sport. Sorry to see her go, it was nice to think that there was a connection to the likes of Mel Blanc and Daws Butler still around.

And Paul Frees and Jack Mercer as well. She was the last of that generation of voice actors. Well, 99 is a pretty good run. I should only live that long!

Have you ever seen the Christmas Cartoon "How The Grinch Stole Christmas?" Aside from Boris Karloff and Thurl Ravenscroft, she was the only other voice actor. She voiced Cindy Lou-Who.

Voices mean nothing to me

Sorry to hear that. But despite that, in animation, a character's voice can make or break how successful a character is, and often, even complete series. Even a well-drawn character with a terrible voice just falls flat. So while you may not be aware of it, the voice talent probably played a huge role in whether you liked an animated movie/show/series or not. And June was one of the very best.
