All right, guys...we've got a LOT of entries this time around! You'll get two votes. If any stories tie, there will be a run-off between the tied stories with only one vote allowed.

Voting closes on the 4th of July.

Here are your candidates, in alphabetical order:

Camelopard: "The Real Thing"
Count Zero: "Hung Up on a Dream"
Kaziarl: "Apprehension"
Mistral: "From the Inside"
perigree: "God's Tears"
_r_: "Broken Glasses"
sojourner: "Second Contact"
Starkers: "A Dirty Word"
TheLoneRedshirt: "To Simply Exist"
TimmyWI: "Hope" (Please note the actual entry is the edited version posted downthread, not the initial entry.)
USS Fardell: "A Tale of Temporal Gifting, Part 3"

Wow. I knew right away what I wanted to vote for, for my first slot.

But, for the second slot--there were so many stellar entries that I had to use technical merit to help me make a decision (i.e. spelling, grammar, attention to formatting) on the second spot! It wasn't my exclusive tiebreaker, but it definitely played into it, and the story I chose had practically no typos, grammatical errors, or misspellings.

SUCH creativity this time around--I am most honored by the response!

Here's what I voted for:

TheLoneRedshirt: "To Simply Exist"
Camelopard: "The Real Thing"

There were a lot of good entries this month. There was an excellent entry by Count Zero. And then there were two entries that were so good I was almost ashamed to see my own in the same list. I suspect TLR and Camelopard are going to end up in a run-off vote...

I'm surprised you were actually able to make a decision based on that. I hardly ever find any errors in the challenge entries. The "technical" level is very high indeed in here (thankfully). Then again, English is only my second language, so I might overlook some of the errors.

Somehow, there are more entries this month than I thought. So I'll have some reading to do before casting my vote.

Count Zero, your English is better than mine and English is my first language.

Thanks for the compliment, but you're being overly modest. :)

There were indeed a number of great entries this month (again :techman:), so I have a hard time deciding which story to vote for. I'll go with perigree and Starkers because their perspectives were so alien and intriguing.

I wish I had a third vote to give to our favourite Ferengi's return, though...

Hmm. This was another tough month--there seem to be many more challengers these days than there used to be.

I could have voted for about half a dozen stories: Mistral, The LoneRedshirt, and Count Zero all wrote really strong entries, for example.

But in the end, I voted for sojourner and perigee--partly because I felt they came closest to meeting the spirit of the challenge. Much closer than I did, anyway.

Thank you, Brother Benny!

And again, thanks for considering what I wrote!

It's better than mine, too. In fact, had the Count not said anything-I'd never have known.
