Here's my first go... just a mood piece.

Looks good, although turning the ship around might fit better. The whole "ride off into the sunset" thing, or as in ST6 "Second star to the right, and straight on till morning."

Or just move the sun so that it is behind the viewer. It would change the lighting, though.

I agree, it's beautiful and I wouldn't change a thing. I was just going with the suggestion on how you could depict the Enterprise sailing off into the sunset without a lot of changes.

I prefer it coming out of the sunset (sunrise?). Going into the sunset is an image of a hero who's finished and is on the way out. This image of the ship coming from the light could be read symbolically as the Enterprise's mission being backed by noble ideals and lofty standards. It's an image of the ship going forth.

ty for the kind words all, and yes the "going forth" symbolism was what I was after...

Here's a minor tweak, realized I forgot to smooth the Connie model and added a hint of stars at the top...

Very well said. It´s good to know there are still fans out there, that don´t think Star Trek is just about action, space battles and powerful warships.

Second!
Really impressive picture, btw.

Don't get me wrong. I wouldn't change it either. That's just what came to mind when I saw it.
