June 29, 2012 - Tentative Release for Trek 12!!

I just read this and it sounds terrific. No word on if the nacelles will continue to be blue or not.

A little bit worried about the date because any movies behind us that have great legs would pose a danger, the July 4th day will hit grosses hard and if you open in May there are plenty of chances to bump up the grosses due to certian days like mothers day or fathers day ? can't remember which one and some other ones too.

The 1st weekend will be crucial for the sequel I am hoping we open with a $90million+ weekend.

Yee-hhaaa! Its right near my birthday. Nice gift!

So three years are going to pass between movies? Sheesh. Way to ride that high wave of praise!

I am so thrilled! I hope the writers create an original story with new villians and new alien races. Perhaps the Klingons could be used as a sub-plot. June 29th is close to the Fourth of July. That will draw in people who are on vacation or who are off from work because of the holiday. I adore the new cast and I am glad they are signed on for a new film. I loved ST XI and I am looking forward to the next film in 2012.

And so it begins. For the next two years we'll be putting up with ignorant fanboys demanding to know the latest about Trek XII. But there is no info to be known. And won't be. Abrams and his Cohorts will continue their meaningless double-talk about wanting the movie to be an "organic continuation" of XI, prompting everyone to think/want a TWOK remake. By the end of summer 2011 a vague plot description will be leaked causing quite a stir, then in January 2012 a teaser is released with the June release date, only to be followed by an announcement in February that it'll be delayed until November. We finally see the movie, the unwashed masses think it's a work of art, while the True Fans just see a bunch of splosions and lens flares. The movie rakes in a couple hundred million opening weekend (ticket price inflation will help allow this) and then Trek XIII gets the greenlight.

A three year wait between Batman Begins and The Dark Knight did not hurt The Dark Knight, and three years certainly did not hurt any of the Star Wars movies.

While it would be nice for them to be able to get the next movie out sooner, I'd rather have them take the time to make sure they do the job right. The push from December to May this last time proved valuable.

I'm concerned will the sequel be as good as Trek XI anyway let them take their time to put a excellent story and script together let the sequel info commence.

 oh. wow. thats on my birthday. anyways, i heard they were shooting for the summer of 2011. i guess they pushed it back to add to the 'suspense'.

Three years between Curse of the Black Pearl and Dead Man's Chest
Three years between X-Men and X2.

These movies and the ones mentioned above drew in massive crowds.

Not for suspense...they aren't anywhere near along in the process to have made Summer 2011. For example, Spider-m4n was supposed to start filming fairly soon for a May 2011 release (before in-fighting derailed the script), while Trek XII is still in the story development phase.

Its been about a month or two since it was mentioned that they were aiming for summer 2012 instead of 2011.

They pushed it back due to scheduling conflicts.
