July challenge- Mano-a-mano.

Ok, wrote an entire challenge out but the more I went into details with the rules the crapper it seemed, so have gone for something simpler!

Mano-a-mano!

You have to write a story that features a conflict between two characters. The conflict can be physical or emotional, actual combat or even romantic in nature.

It can also feature ship-to-ship combat, however it must be clear who the two protagonists are. It's no good having Janeway fight a mysterious alien ship. I'm looking for Kirk Vs. Khan...that sort of thing.

Brand new character, AU characters, and characters from your own series are acceptable but at least one of your protagonists must be a canon character as seen in any of the 5 TV series or 10 films (even if they were just in one episode). Hence I couldn't have Captain Hernandez from Vesta fighting Captain Calhoun, however it'd be perfectly acceptable to have either of them fight Kor.

Hope that's clear, if not sing out.

Now the boring bits...

Word limit- 2500 (Yeah I know I'm mean- time to trim that fat off )

Closing date- 23.59 GMT on 31st July 2007.

Ok then, as they used to say in ancient 20th Century video games...

Ah, this may be difficult as I don't particularly enjoy writing character conflict... Too depressing or frustrating. If only there was a way I could turn it into something funny...

It is possible to have character conflict without it being depressing. Plenty of comedy reolves around two people competing for something.

Take Ben Stiller and Vince Vaughn in Dodgeball- just off the top of my head.

The irony here is that if it weren't going to be the usual length, I could enter the next action-packed episode of Star Trek, MY way!

Oh well. Just gotta think of somethin' else I guess...

As far as I know, Chris Pike's a canon character.

That's all the spoilerage I'm doing.

'Course, like I said, doesn't matter since it's already long past 2500 words and I've only got the teaser and first act done.

i've got an idea. christ knows when i'll do it though, since i'm doing loads of overtime at the moment and saturday i'll be off to see Die Hard 4...
