July Challenge - Enterprise J shuttle

So, a little background.

A while back I wrote a few fanfics set aboard the Enterprise-J depicted in ENT. In the stories, the E-J, commanded by a Romulan exchange officer, is exploring Fluidic Space gathering information on Species 8472. My entry is a shuttle used in a story I've thought about but not put in writing yet:

For context, I also drew a comic based on a scene from the story:

I apologize for the quality. I used a combination of old tools and new tools I'm unfamiliar with using properly.

But anywho, here it is.

I thank you all for your kind words.

I also intended to post the preliminary sketches I did along with these drawings, but this was Sunday and I was trying to beat the clock getting entered. I'll post the sketches soon so you can see alternate views.

Maverisms and B.J.: Actually, it was my intent to make it look like a little Enterprise because I always felt that ENT-J looks like a stretched out NX-01 and I thought it should have a shuttle to match. Then when I was drawing it, i was thinking, "Yeah, um...this kinda looks like the minisub from Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea." The windshield's kind of a dead giveaway ain't it? :D

Wow! I knew you could write but didn't know you could also draw.

Excellent work - I like the shuttle design and the comic-book art. :bolian:

The windsheild recalls the USOS Seaview now that I think about it. But I'm sticking by my flying sub impression. This really has that kind of "feel."

Which isn't to say that this feels like a submarine. It feels like a starship. I guess the best way to put it would be in word problem format: This shuttle is to Enterprise-J as the flying sub is to Seaview. They seem to go together.

Kinda ironic, though, the shuttle being used as submarine in fluidic space...

Cool, Ensign Ro. Very nice work there. I was thinking of asking Admiral2 if he wanted some help with any character art. I haven't logged on to TREKBBS for a long while. I'm trying to get back into the game.

Admiral2--you said something about using new tools. Try Comic Life. It's comic creator software--I've been using it for years. I'll post a pic of mine with it below.
