Ok we have done some similar contests to this but I think I have a pretty good twist. Trek has always used literature and social issues as story ideas from day 1. Today literature is more than the classics, comics, film scripts and modern theater have woven themselves in the fabric of our lives as much as Star Trek has.
So....wait for it.....what if Gene Roddenberry had help creating trek from say Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, or maybe...Bob Kane, What if Gene was partners with Walt Disney or Chuck Jones? What if Gene had met with 2 young film students named George and Steven. Perhaps Robert Louis Stevenson had an assistant named Roddenberry and we had 20,000 Lightyears from Earth???? Perhaps the mythology of Egypt, Greece and Rome had gods who used phasers. Basically What if Trek had been influenced or actually created by some of the most influential artists throughout history?
Think of this as a big Marvel Comics What if issue. Or and Elseworlds DC comic. Or an episode of the Twilight zone.
