Since the comics are often so satirical and meta, I wish they would do something like that.

Where would be a good place to start on the comics for someone who only knows the character through the Karl Urban movie?
I demand the show do a West Wing style political drama storyline centering around Mayor Dave. Particularly his election, complete with the inevitable parallels to the current political climate.Certainly the Dredd comic does go into a lot of stuff, not only the dark an gritty, but sometimes a lighter side. I remember a brief two-page story about Dredd using all the Justice Department's Forensic and Scientific services to track down someone who dropped a bubble-gum wrapper. A TV series is ideal, and they can also build up some things in the background, like the robot uprising for example.

Is the IDW version any good?
Would The Cursed Earth be a good place to start? I've seen that one mentioned a lot.
I miss that show.In fact MC1 kinda reminds of Urban's aborted tv series Almost Human. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Almost_Human_(TV_series)
