Journey's End as the Doctor Who series finale

I think even RTD in hindsight thinks the Rose sex toy Doctor was a naff idea!
RTD confess that something he's done is anything less than completely brilliant? Never. Besides, we need his ego or the loss of gravity from its disappearance means the moon would drift out of orbit and our tides would fuck up.

It's not enough to say you dislike his work, you have to insult the guy for no damn good reason too?

Bones has got nuthin'.

They might as well have ended it with Ten's death, which was quite moving, if what Smith's capable of is no better than he's shown this season. No wonder the ratings are down.

He's an arrogant man who mocks and belittles anyone who criticises his work, while being quick to criticise others.

What's Smith doing wrong for you that Tennant got right?

As for AIs and critical reception, I don't give a Dalek's cuss.

Most people are idiots.

Of course you don't care that a large majorty of the fanbase actually enjoy the show, and even Daily Mail right wing BBC bashing critics adore the show quite often. Nope Bones says its shit so say we all and nice of you to take another pop shot at the country.

Turning the Doctor into some gormless Northerner who falls in love with a thick chav 2% of his age

The Northerners your target today, well why don't you apply for a job at the Daily FAIL am sure you will please them. Your grasp on reality is slim if you believe Rose is a chav but then I expect nothing less from you.

As for the erm bit at the end...

You like to go around this forum with the high opinion that your view on the show is the majorty, you call people like me for attacking you while we disagree with you. Howevery everytime you speak of RTD you spew nothing short of bile on his work, the actors involved in the show, hell you even take a good shot at sections population of your own country while your at it...Not too mention you always seem to sneak in some snark comment about homosexuals while your at it to top it all off.

But hey your Bones and the cosmic suns themselves shine out of your rear, so I guess its ok, I aplogise carry on

I don't claim my opinion is fact (opinions are subjective, after all), and I certainly don't claim it's shared by the majority. I'd appreciate it if you didn't accuse me of various prejudices and stick to arguing the points at hand in a good-natured fashion.
He's an arrogant man who mocks and belittles anyone who criticises his work, while being quick to criticise others.?

And you say you have nothing in common with the man :guffaw:
That doesn't make sense. I've not mocked or belittled anyone for criticising my work.

I don't make personal attacks against people here. I often discuss the matter at hand and have a different point of view, and if people can't deal with the idea someone dislikes something they do like and see that it's got nothing to do with personalities, that's a shame. You don't see me calling you nasty things for disliking the Sixth Doctor, after all.

Whatever, your posts are too often nasty for me, shame really as sometimes you actually have valid points to make, the whole RTD/gay thing is getting really old though.

Queer as Folk had Mary Sue gay characters engaging in underage sex. That's fact. Saying I don't see how that qualified him to showrun Doctor Who besides the fact he was flavour of the month among media types has nothing to do with him personally or his homosexuality. Falsely accusing someone of homophobia to dismiss anything they say isn't very nice, and I'd like you to take it back.

You're very passive/aggessive aren't you?

I won't take it back because you're defining his ability to showrun Who based on one body of his work that you obviously have issues with (see your post using the word sodomize last week, I serisouly cannot remember the last time I saw anyone use that word!)

By contrast one of his earliest production credits was Dark Season many years before. A science fiction series for children that featured a character clearly based on the Doctor and her two teenage companions. (I would recommend watching it, I think it's probably more enjoyable than many of his Who episodes)

It's a bit silly really isn't it. Like saying Spielberg shouldn't be allowed to make close encounters because he only has experience of making films about killer sharks, or that Moffat's adult show about couples can't be made because he can surely only do shows about teen journalists!

I'm basing his ability to showrun on his 5 years of Doctor Who. Considering the closest thing he'd done to it before was a Virgin New Adventure (which, by the by, had some gay oral sex in the back of a taxi - something I don't approve of in a book that was meant to be part of the continuation of a family show, though lots of the NA authors were writing that kind of thing in, so it's more a problem with that range as a whole), and some obscure sci-fi kids show no one would otherwise remember now were it not RTD, I don't think he was really the best choice, and think he was chosen for the aforementioned QaF. Of course, this is speaking in hindsight; had he been brilliant at Doctor Who I wouldn't be complaining, but I think choosing him to showrun was down to his being fashionable at the time rather than his having any talent for science fiction.

As for refusing to take back the accusation of me being a homophobe, I'll try and say (in as unironic a way as I can, considering this is what they all say) that some of my best friends are gay. This isn't me trying to prove to you I'm not a homophobe, but in much the same way as I pointed out I have black family when you baselessly accused me of racism a while back (now I think of it, it's a good thing I have thick skin just to deal with the amount of aspersions cast by you alone), it's to point out why I find it so extremely offensive that you accuse me of bigotry and prejudice in the first place.

And even in a post defending yourself you have to shoehorn in some gay stuff you didn't like?

If you can point where where I've explicitly called you a racist or a homophobe please do. I just point out what's right in front of me, and the number of times you mention RTD's sexuality when slagging him off is interesting, that's all ;)

What the bloody fuck are you talking about? Where has RTD ever insulted or belittled people who criticize his work or criticized others?

Thread closed, since there doesn't seem to be any desire to actually discuss the topic. However.....

1.) Everyone has a right to express their opinion, just as anyone else does. Therefore the replies should stop being so personally directed. :vulcan:

2.) But you aren't blameless in this Bones. Responses such as you've just seen should be no surprise to you given the tenor of your postsl
