I loved this book. It was way too real for me, it was the start of my insomnia at where I was still technically sleeping very little, but so early that I was not memory loss ridden (that came about around easter time - to note I could not sleep on good Friday either).
I loved the book so much that when I was about half way through I started reading it aloud. It was captivating, very captivating. If you can read it in proper English, even though written by a Frenchman it is helpful because of all of the terms (most of which are outdated) still the geology was fascinating, and the book is way different from that newer movie where it turns out they journey to a pocket in the crust dipping down into the lithosphere. Good movie, the original movie might be around, but its probably just a classic and doesn't appear so well.
The book had me singing "Stromboli" with them as they skipped down the mountainside. I liked it so much, and my embouchure was very much Italian... even though I am mostly American and from what I gather... was mostly of the British isles (Ireland, Scotland, England), some of that German/Polish regions, and of course France.
Antediluvian became very much symbolism to me of delirium and both Henry and I were mostly delirious during those re-occurring chapter segments of his dreams. I wonder about that prehistoric ape creature. I had my own sights of screen printing on orange of the black ape and a white crook for shepherding sheep.
I also recommend 20,000 leagues under the sea. I read that one first. I am looking for his around the world eighty days.
