Jonah Hex movie thread:Casting,Pics,Rumors,Spoilers till Release

Wow, the trailer actually looks pretty good! (and the film, I hope)

But, man oh man... Megan Fox is an even worse actress than I suspected. Ouch. Couldn't they have found *anyone* else??? Josh Brolin might as well have acted against a green-screen, their scenes have zero chemistry.

She does have a few good liners in that trailer though.

Hex: They sure searched you good
Fox: Wouldn't you. (says it as a statemen of fact vs question;))

I've only started reading modern Jonah Hex at issue #41. The series is currently on #54 and nothing as been alluded to that there is anything supernatural about Hex. His wiki article doesn't mention it that I saw.

While the early comic book series have had a supernatural bent, Jonah Hex, himself, never possessed any mystical powers. The comic has always been a bit of a Western-Horror; however, I prefer the more Western-Noir approach of the current run.

I'm upset that TPTB went the way of the Wild, Wild West--the overblown, bloated film adaption not the excellent 60s televisions series. Jonah Hex is the perfect character to pluck and drop into a gritty Western movie like Tombstone, or even in an Italian Western-like film.

WB really could've done a helluv a Western...yet the studio gives us this.

I wish it was a more straight up western as well but at least the trailer shows its not full blown camp.

I think they should've gone more along the line of Clint Eastwoods Man With No Name saga, just with Hex as a bigger bad ass.

I'm cautiously optimistic.

And?... How does it not prove my point??? That line is delivered HORRIBLY! :guffaw:

Jonah Hex???

I saw the new trailer for Jonah Hex this weekend when I went to see Oceans. I thought the trailer was pretty good, and it got some good reaction from the crowd.

I have always been a quasi fan of Jonah. So I hope that since this is DC's only movie until Green Lantern that its good and gets DC Movies some much needed street cred. Batman-Batman Begins are on a good run...but with Catwoman and the unfornate performance of Superman Returns, DC needs to show they can do other good movies other than just Batman....

I'm crossing my fingers!!!

Re: Jonah Hex???

Most of the cast is good, but I'm not sure about Megan Fox. I'll probably go check it out but I'm not expecting much.

I don't get why DC puts out more obscure characters and stuff from Vertigo but drags their feet on their more popular properties. Really there should've been a Flash, Wonder Woman, and Green Lantern movie by now. Even Aquaman and maybe even Green Arrow probably got more name recognition than Jonah Hex, the Losers, V for Vendetta, Constantine, Watchmen, etc.

It's still funny, I translate a better delivery in my head after she utters her lines. :techman:

Re: Jonah Hex???

That is a good question. I guess they feel safer putting out ho-hum movies on characters no one knows rather than blowing it real big with a big name...in essence? They are cowards..

Great movie lines as heard in the trailer:
'Hey Hex, what happened to your face?'

(Hex shoots guy, who goes backwards into door.)

'I cut myself shaving, what happened to yours?':techman::lol:

Funniest lines of a movie this year!

Problem is, that scene is cliche. It would have been better had he delivered it and then shot his antagonist.

Yep..saw the trailer when I saw KICKASS and the audience laughed at that one....I am looking forward to Jonah Hex..can't wait movie of the summer for me since I can aleady tell that IRONMAN 2 is going for the 'bigger is better' strategy of Transfomers 2, and are going to make a crowded, unfun, movie...

Looks decent. Josh Brolin looks to be the saving grace of the movie, even though the aesthetic look of it reminds me of Wild Wild West, which is NOT a good thing.

That is the first thing I though when I saw the trailer.

I wonder if Jonah will fight a giant mechanical spider at the end? Ughh....

I'll prolly pass on this one especially since I vaguely remember the Character.

I will see this movie no matter what because I like Jonah Hex, and if I'm correct, he predates WILD WILD WEST. So, count me in!!!

Rob

If you've seen the trailer and recall the scene between Jonah and Lilah(Megan) that goes, "You still got that derringer, No they took it. You still got that...No they took it all. Searched you good didn't they? Wouldn't you?"

If you recall that then I'm WARNING YOU this is an extended 1:30sec clip of what happens AFTER that.

Holy frak! The studio cut Jonah Hex to shreds. The runtime is 80 minutes!!!! And even shorter if you take out the credits!!!!
