Jon Favreau exits IRON MAN 3

I think the first two films had plenty of action scenes in it...although if you're talking about fight scenes that's something different. I think some fans can't distinguish between what is an action scene and what is a fight scene and lump them in together as one thing. I don't think we need Tony fighting more bad guys. Favs said before he left that the Mandarin would most likely be the villain in the third film and he was looking for a way to do him properly.

I would like to see more of Iron Man in action and fighting actual super villans, even if they are just one off'ers.

Jonathan Frakes (needs the work)

Just saw his appearance on NCIS. He seems to be experiencing the Shatner effect...

Neill Blomkamp (District 9), Ben Stiller (Tropic Thunder), Shane Black (Kiss, Kiss, Bang, Bang), Peter Berg (The Rundown), Duncan Jones (Moon) and Paul Verhoeven (RoboCop) have all been short-listed to replace Favreau.

Jones would be interesting... assuming IM3 doesn't get in the way of the next project set in the Jonesverse.

I'd be curious to see if Ben Stiller could handle a production as large as "Iron Man 3" would be. "Tropic Thunder" maybe defeats my point since he proved he could clearly do action. All of those are interesting choices on that short list though for different reasons.

I kinda saw this coming.

Jon Favreau will not be returning to the Marvel Universe for a third Iron Man film, Vulture reports.

The article suggests that the choice was made at the director's discretion and that he informed Marvel Studios of his decision this morning. Though Favreau's reasoning is purely speculatory at this stage, it is likely that the director simply wishes to pursue other creative ventures. With the upcoming Cowboys & Aliens hitting next summer and The Magic Kingdom in the early planning stages, Favreau should remain suitably busy for the time being.

SuperHeroHype is seeking official confirmation of the news and will bring you updates as soon as they become available.

They failed to make him happy....
