I don't know if he was ever a "star" but he was definitely someone you knew if you loved B-movies and were around back in the day. Enter the Dragon is one of my favorite movies so that is probably my favorite role of his.
An impressive resume from 1954-2021. So recognizable from being in so many movies & TV shows.

The first thing I remember seeing him in was an episode of The Six Million Dollar Man, in which he played the first of Doctor Dolenz's robot replacements, as well as the character being replaced.
Just caught Saxon yesterday in Kung Fu S1 E1, "King of the Mountain."

I just checked his IMDB profile, wow. Yes, he was “that guy” that you saw over and over, everywhere.
Sorry to hear this. He was by no means a great actor but he always brought his own presence to any role and gave it his all. Kudos for all those cult roles, as well. Thanks for the memories.
His Italian looks got him a lot of Native Americans and Hispanic parts in Westerns, and he was good at playing heavies and characters with something dark under the surface. He was a series star in NBC's prestige drama The Bold Ones: The New Doctors. I always gave him credit for how far back he let his hairline go!
When "The Day of the Robot" aired on TSMDM, I was four years old and liked watching the show. When Saxon's face flew off I was so terrified I had to eat dessert in my bedroom, sitting at my little table with Looney Tunes characters on the top. I remember it so clearly.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who was freaked out by that episode!
I remember seeing a rerun of that when I was little. My brother and I used to take turns as Steve Austin and John Saxon's characters, having slow motion bionic fights complete with "sound effects".
Good times.
Right before he died, John Saxon was on my mind a lot. I caught a tiny bit of Battle Beyond the Stars on channel 45.2. I was just rewatching the MST3K version of Mitchell. (Tom Servo: "Wasn't John Saxon in this movie?") And my friend and I always love quoting his scenery chewing villain from Prisoners of the Lost Universe. That's why I don't think he's really dead, because "No one can kill Kleel. NO ONE!"
he’ll always be “Masketron” to me. Even when I saw him in other stuff over the years my first reaction was always “it’s the evil robot from $6 million man.”
