John Meredyth Lucas

Spock's Barber

John Meredyth Lucas wrote, directed and/or produced numerous TOS episodes. What are your thoughts/opinions on his contributions to TOS?

They can't all be gems.

You start a lot of threads, maybe it's just saturation. Or maybe just give it a little more time.

Patterns of Force was much better for me when I was a child as for some reason I always remembered it as there being two Kirks, one was a Nazi officer and the other our hero and there was a swop of roles for Kirk in it until the Ekosians realised their mistake and tried to corner the landing party in a café! Not sure why I recalled it that way!

What brought PoF down somewhat was some of the stock TV acting of the guest actors, in particular that Nazi second in command. It would have had more gravity, otherwise.

Sometimes threads take time to get started, Barber...
That's the late season two producer, right? Bit Planet of the Hats, but a fun time. Not sure it would have worked for another season, but IIRC his time as producer was based round checking the shelved scripts for something he could make fast and cheap, so we don't really know what he might have commissioned himself with more time.
