Oh no, another one of my fave actors died! i became a fan of him for years since i saw Black Cauldron in theaters at age 3 as he voiced Horned King and saw Alien on video at age 4 even Lord of the Rings 1978/Watership Down on video the same year i saw Alien on video.

Great actor, a shame he is dead! RIP.

Wow, 77 isn't old enough these days, what a shame.
Such a lot of great performances, the chestburster scene in Alien is never far from my mind.

I thought Hurt was somewhat older......given that he had a bit part in THE LONGEST DAY.

Until Friday, it always impressed me that the seven key cast members of ALIEN seemed invincible, compared with the casts of virtually any other 1970s film with casts in their general age-group. After 38 years, Hurt, like his character Kane, ultimately was the first to pass away.....unless you count Jon Finch, who Hurt replaced at the last minute.

There's so many roles to savor. SCANDAL, Caligula, THE HIT, MIDNIGHT EXPRESS, LOVE AND DEATH ON LONG ISLAND, FROM THE HIP, THE ELEPHANT MAN naturally...

maybe he's always a bit older - even seen him as Winston Smith in 1984?

But I had forgotten he was somewhat younger than Ian Holm and Harry Dean Stanton in particular.

I should think so, Stanton is a WW2 veteran.

Damn... I must have been under a rock this weekend.. I JUST found out... so sad.. Such a great actor and amazing addition to Doctor Who... RIP, sir... You are missed.
