I thought Father Petrelli was the one.
So I guess Mama Petrelli was naughty in her youth...

To restore the super to Heroes, the show is going -- but of course -- to Smallville!

Sources confirm to me exclusively that the struggling NBC drama has tapped John Glover, a.k.a. Lex Luthor's dad, Lionel, to play Sylar's father.

"When Sylar meets his father, he's going to see a path ahead of him that he doesn't want to take," reveals a Heroes insider. "He has a lot more in common with his father than he realized."

The Tony award winner, who recently booked an arc on Brothers & Sisters as a love interest for Ron Rifkin's Saul, will turn up towards the end of Heroes' forthcoming "Fugitives" chapter. Do you see the family resemblance?

Smallville' star joins 'Heroes' cast, SPOILER

Smallville actor John Glover has been added to the cast of Heroes.

Glover will play Sylar's father in the NBC drama, according to Entertainment Weekly.

"When Sylar meets his father, he's going to see a path ahead of him that he doesn't want to take," said a show source.

"He has a lot more in common with his father than he realised."

Glover will arrive on the show towards the end of the forthcoming 'Fugitives' volume. He also recently signed up to appear in ABC's Brothers & Sisters.
fine cast Glover in Heroes all you like, but as Sylars dad? I was hoping Nimoy would do it.

Re: Smallville' star joins 'Heroes' cast, SPOILER

Great news! He is a excelent actor. I wonder if he will have powers.

I did the math yesterday. The "history of anything I touch" power said Angela was the mommy so, even though she was having affair after affair with Kiedo, our Gabe is clearly not a Nakamura, so that would leave "Bob" as one of the few accessible anglosaxon boys left from the 70s. I loved it on Veronica Mars when Veronica vomited out a car window after she figured out that she had been sleeping with her brother.

Kristen plays incest well.

John Glover is superb. :)

Best Satan ever.

And there's been some stiff competition.

Hells, did you see Billy Crystal as the Devil?

Marvelous!

Sweet.. the man is going to be in two shows I watch. Will be odd to see him play a gay man though after seeing his fascination with Martha Kent for so long.

John Glover, they got the Magnificent Bastard. Color me intrigued and glad to see his return to television after getting killed off on Smallville last season. He's not only a great actor, he also makes the other actors he works with appear better as well. Good casting move and I hope he sticks around for a bit.

This should be fun. Now if they could get Animal Mother Baldwin for an episode or two, that would be great.

I hope he's better than the guy playing Arthur...yeesh.

I wonder if Sylar's dad will have the power to possess people, & he'll possess Sylar to do only good deeds. So NBC can once again inflict good Sylar on us.

I think we need to see him and Angela kick the shit out of each other and then do it like old wrinkled bloodied mutton.

Back to John Glover---never have seen Smallville, but his turn as Satan in Brimstone was the high point of that odd little series. His guest starring role on Numb3rs as a "psychic" was also memorable.

Nimoy would be too silly. I was hoping for Peter Coyote, but Glover is a good option, too. It would be fun for Angela to still be the Mom - especially if Nathan can tell us he doesn't recall her ever having a baby other than Peter - which would raise certain creepy scenarios - but Ellen Greene also looks so right for the Mom.

We don't have to keep up the spoiler code do we? Anybody who doesn't want to know what we're talking about shouldn't be here. :p

I'm gonna tell Bryan Fuller to hire you as script adviser. :rommie:

something along the lines of that Lionel Luthor/Papa Sylar is a manipulative homicidal maniac just like his son? and that Syler sees "what my father is" and becomes horrified that he has become him? Now that's logical plot mechanics; no more "lets stop the doomsday virus but wait, lets pain future-pictures first" stuff.....

Nope. Sylar's character logic, to the extent he has any, is a desperate need for familial connection. The return of his real father hopefully will solve that issue and make it easier for him to control the hunger and become less homicidal.

That seems to be what his character logic points to, if you just toss out all the outlier stuff and try to focus on what actually fits together. It's not easy since the character is like trying to put together a puzzle that is made up of three or four puzzles all dumped together so the first task is to identify what doesn't belong and toss it out...
