John Debney scoring IRON MAN 2

Ramin Djawadi scored the atrocious music for Iron Man, and fortunately director Jon Favreau had the good sense to replace him with the composer who should have scored the first film, a man by the name of John Debney, composer of such films as The Passion of the Christ, Zathura and Elf. This will be Debney's third collaboration with Favreau.

I actually can't remember a single on of his scores so I'm not so sure this is good thing. I quite liked the first movies score. Original it was not but it had some nice stuff.

Huh... I actually liked the score for Iron Man.

Hmmm... quick check on IMDb to see what Debney's done... I liked the score for Elf. There are many films he's done that I've seen, but don't really remember much of the music. Don't remember disliking any of it, though. So we'll see. He does seem to score a lot of kid/family-oriented movies.... Hmmm...

Actually, he said he ws going to do the first back then. He's not, as of the time of the article, signed to score IMs yet, so I hear.

I'm indifferent. Ramin Djawadi's score was boring to listen to on CD, but it served its purpose in the film. It certainly wasn't anything like Elfman's Batman score or Williams' Superman: The Movie score, but could John Debney write something on par with those?

Good news indeed. Debney is one of the few movie composers who I feel is improving his work still. Unlike Horner, Williams, Zimmer, Silvestri, etc. who did their best works years ago.

You mean nice fluff? I thought that's what you said. ;)
Different strokes. I can enjoy something layered and deeper and I can enjoy the hard action scoring of something like Iron Man.

Looked it up and I did like Debney's score for The Emperors New Groove, but that's like nine years ago...

very good news !!! I was dissapointed when I learned that Debney wasn't scoring the first IM. Ramin Djawadi's score was generic and dull. Debney is a good composer and underrated imo.

Good call, Favreau !!!

I wasn't too thrilled with the score to Iron Man but as some have said it served its purpose on film but is disapointing to listen to on CD buy its self. Good to know about the changed, liked Passions score.

I do recall one of Debney's scores I really did enjoy that people might not be aware of - TNG's "The Pegasus". He also scored DS9's "Progress" and "The Nagus".
