"John Carter of Mars" Moving Ahead!

Kashmir, eh? Intresting music choice.

It doesn't really look like I had imagined from the books but it looks like a solid adventure flick. At least it looks like it has some color and life to it. I've been disappointed with the look of a lot of recent films.

It looks pretty good. The music choice was a bit weird didn't really go with the tone of the trailer in my opinion. I'll be checking this out when it comes out.

I just re-read the book and I agree that it just doesn't quite look like what i would have imagined. The green martian just aren't intimidating enough and the white ape is waaaaay to huge. Also the Gambit guy they cast as John Carter just doesn't look the part to me. John Carter was supposed to be a big burly man's man soldier and this guy looks kinda lanky.

More importantly this is Disney. I expect that this movie will be a decent action/adventure flick a la Pirates of the Caribbean but it almost certainly won't break the mold in any way.

Yeah, this is Disney, so there's no way we're going to get anything resembling the books. But what we're getting looks pretty good so far.

I'm sure the real music in the movie will be different. At least I hope so.

This will be my warm up act for Hunger Games. I've only ever read the comics so my familiarity is lacking and thus my expectations my differ from others in that respect.
Looks good but yes Lynn is highly overdressed from what I understand.

Looks okay. Why doesn't John Carter have a Virginia accent? Why does a Martian princess have a British accent? :rommie:

Lynn Collins looks pretty much like my idea of Dejah Thoris. Being female, I have no strong opinions about the amount of clothing she's wearing, but I'll leave that up to the guys to worry about.

I'm really not convinced about the guy from Friday Night Lights. He seems too modern to be playing a 19th C Southern gentleman, and he also seems too young. I always envisioned Carter as being a bit more grizzled and weatherbeaten by the time he got to Mars.

yeah I know john needs a stonger sourthern accent and deja thoris needs to have less clothing like on the cover of the books or better yet the comics. but I am still going to see it.

EVERY time I see trailers for this movie, I keep wondering why they reunited two actors from X-Men Orgins: Wolverine. :rommie:

Don't forget...Michael Giacchino is doing the score. I'm so not worried about the musical aspect at all. It should be quite good.

One of the other big things that has me excited for this that I haven't seen mentioned much is the fact that this will be the live action directing debut of Andrew Stanton, the director/writer of Finding Nemo and WALL-E, two of my all time favorite animated movies. I'm pretty confident that his talent will crossover no problem.

It's not just her. Everybody's wearing too many clothes. :rommie:

That's good to know. :bolian:

I sort of liked the trailer. It seems like it could be pretty solid, but things could go the other way.

More importantly this is Disney.
Just as important, it's directed by Andrew Stanton, of Pixar (and specifically Wall-E) fame. My understanding - limited as it is - is that this is a Disney film because Pixar doesn't brand itself as you know a studio that does live action.

A decent action/adventure flick is all I really hope for. One rarely gets any these days (this year there was what, Rise of the Planet of the Apes - which was great- and that was basically it).

Why does a Martian princess have a British accent? :rommie:

What, you've never heard a High Martian accent?

Seriously though, what accent should Martians have?
