Joaquin Phoenix on Letterman

I'm sure it as an act, it was painfully obvious.

It was also painful to watch because it was just... so... LAME!

AT the end Phoenix turned towards Dave, took his glasses off and said "good job". I cant beleive some people think he was serious.:lol:

Years ago, Farrah was on Letterman and acted totally spacey. They pretty much labelled her the craziest guest they've ever had.

Yeah, but to be fair her brain is filled with botox, silicon and bon bons.

The Glover link to me, like the Phoenix interview, seems to be completely staged and faked. The linked Fawcett interview? She's clearly coked/stoned/drunk/ditzy out of her skull.

This whole Phoenix thing is most definitely fake, a method acting, performance art, satirical take on celebrity that's all being filmed for a "documentary" by Casey Affleck.

Glover is a truly weird dude. I saw a spoken word performance of his in Toronto once, and he is...a truly weird dude. His Letterman stint, I have no idea whether it was contrived or not from his side of things, but Letterman most definitely did not know he was gonna' do that and was pissed for quite awhile. When Glover was on the show again in 1990, it was a big deal, as Letterman is known for not being very forgiving.

But the whole Phoenix thing...it's obvious at times he's trying not to laugh at both the audience's reactions and some of Dave's lines, and not only does he take off the glasses, shake hands and thank him at the end, he also apparently asked Dave to crank up the annoyance after the commercial break, which is apparent.

Farrah, I don't know if there ever was a decent explanation for that, beyond "retarded." But I've seen her interview in other things, and she's never seemed like that before.

It's not as funny or as captivating when you know it's all an act. Still good though. I saw a clip earlier today when I didn't know anything about this and I laughed out loud a few times. It still got a laugh when I saw the whole thing and knew more, but like I said, it's not the same. You could see his act slipping in the second segment after the commercial break. The "I think we owe Farrah Fawcett an apology" line from Letterman was funny too.

Personally, I thought Crispin Glover was the craziest;

I don't think anything will ever top Madonna's apparence back in '94. The "infamous" one.
