JJ or J

Though I havent seen XI yet, but going on what I have seen so far? I am very glad JJ got to do his trek and that the dude who did Bab-5, Strazinsky? didn't...I have read his 'version' of a reboot and, wow, I didn't like it at all.

JJ's remake is trying very hard to give long time fans a bit of the pie. But he is cleary going after a younger set. The way I read Mr.Bab5's treatment, I read it as totally blowing up STAR TREK and totally making nothing to appeal to me (old fan) at all.

And had he gotten his chance, I am quite sure the budget would have been, at best, 30 percent, and we would have gotten yet another low budget attempt at STAR TREK...

So...I am glad LOST beat out BAB-5!!!

I for one loved JMS' suggestions for a Trek reboot. However, he wanted to produce a TV series, not a feature film.

I'm glad that you're glad, Rob, but we've done this one before, more or less. It wasn't your thread, the last time -- you may not even have seen it -- but it's been done a couple of times already, and the results were just not satisfactory. Indeed, the results had very little to do with the impending Star Trek movie at all and everything to do with another round of the same old brawl which always seems to break out whenever JMS is mentioned in a Trek-specific forum, or when Trek and B-5 occupy the same thread in SF&F.

Bearing that in mind, and since this is pretty much a "Nyah, nyah, JMS didn't get to do Trek" thread anyway, I'll just close it now. I'd offer to move it, but no forum really wants this hot potato any more.
