My preference would be to let Star Trek RIP in Peace and to have a new property as a "spiritual successor" rather than another spin off, prequel, sequel, reboot or remake.

Then I am glad that you're not in charge of the 'Trek franchise.

How about a story were Kirk, Spock, Bones, and Scotty are only 3 and 1/2 feet tall and they have to take a long trip on foot through wild territory to take a defective tricorder back to the factory.
