Jim, look! - Retro Style

Great image. :) I thought for a minute, that you used the shuttles that were already in the shot, but I think it's great that you used RAF's. :)

What this rendering proves in my mind beyond a shadow of a doubt was that the original proportions were right from the beginning. Yea, I can accept Dennis' warning that on a huge screen, viewers would have wanted to see a ship that was less plain than the 1966 Enterprise-1701 (which this essentially is, but with very good texturing and lighting).

But if Dennis' Challenger or Vektor's 1701 "HD" model were used in place of this one, I think it would prove exactly the same thing that this version proves: The original proportions were the correct ones. The designers could fiddle with the skin all they want to, but they should have left the bones intact.

Besides, if the movie went to great lengths to keep the mini-skirts and stiletto-heel boots, then why didn't it keep the ship...and some semblance of the bridge, as opposed to the kitchen of an airport Burger King?

I have always felt the same. All the Connie needed was a revamp in the detail department, similar to what deg accomplished with his version. Why mess with something that had nothing wrong with it to begin with.

Awesome work PixelMagic. And the back-lighting on the underside of the saucer really helps sell her size in this shot. It makes her look very majestic as well. Say what you will about the ships but ILM did some very nice work lighting the effects in the movie. I can't help but wonder what would happen if other shots in the movie were mimicked with the original Connie. For example, I would be very curious to see her using the new warp tunnel, arriving above Vulcan in the debris field and emerging from the atmosphere of Titan.

Inspired to make this after watching Star Trek 2009. Thought it would be fun to do with the TOS Enterprise.

That looks amazing. It seriously makes me wish we could have seen the old gal on the big screen!!

Love this version of the ship. When I first saw the JJPrise, I got a bad feeling by the movie, but I tried to put that aside when I saw the film. Even though I saw it twice, it still didn't feel like Star Trek to me. I'll probably give any future movies a chance, but as far as I'm concerned, I'm still a TOS fan.

I like it, but something seems a hair off...

I wonder how that shot would look with Vektor's Enterprise or the TOS.5 Enterprise. Of course, if you're going to do that, ask permission first.

He already did. PixelMagic and I have discussed using my modified Enterprise model for exactly this purpose but, as usual, I've been taking my time delivering the goods. Now that I'm able to get in some modeling time again, I'll have to see if I can do something about that. ;)

Why couldn't JJ. have done this? The one thing I've never liked about the TOS E is the deflector dish, it always looked too 60s. This dish looks realistic. This is the ship that should have been in the movie. Now, can you do something about the bridge? That would be awsome.

This was just a test run. For yours, I plan to do a full animation :)
