JG Hertzler (General Martok) has a new project

TrixieVanSickle

Ensign
Red Shirt
I have JG Herztler on my friends list on Facebook and I he announced a day or two ago that he had started a Kickstarter fund for a play he is directing in November.

I'm sharing the link for any fellow Klingon fans that may want to check it out. I already kicked in a few slips of latinum.
He has some "rewards" too, depending on how much you pledge.

I especially liked the introduction video because he's wearing a silly hat.

Q'apla!

[link removed - you agreed when joining to not post commercial links, and that's exactly what you did straight away - all this fellow Klingon stuff doesn't get away from that]

^^It's not a commercial link, Antony F and I'm still waiting for you to respond to that.
Commercial as you use it, refers to something that is to be traded or sold for profit. Goods or services advertised with the sole purpose of making money. This link is not commercial, it is not intended to sell anything for profit. So therefore, removing is was not necessary.

So anyone who wants to check out the play's link can go to Kickstarter and search JG Herztler.

Let me get this right: Your very first post is about having members of this board part with their hard earned money?

Why, yes, my friends, it is.

I'm not selling anything myself, and I don't make a profit from it. I'm not selling a thing. Just passing on the information to fellow Klingons and Klingon lovers.

I also used to be a member here but no longer have the website address associated for the email, so I made a new name.

I see nothing wrong with passing along information about a great project that Trekkies/Trekkers can get involved in and support a Trek Alumni that's very active and entertaining on the convention circuit.

:bolian:

Again, I'm not profiting from it. I'm not standing here holding the Rules of Acquisition trying to sell you self-sealing stembolts.

I read the rules and it says nothing commercial. This isn't a commercial venture. The spirit of Star Trek has always been one of supporting each other and outside projects of Trek Alumni aka "Family".

Yes it is funny. I'm enthusiastic about Star Trek actor's projects and want to share one with my fellow Trekkers that is not commercial nor a "product" and therefor isn't a violation of rules.

It's "news" really if you think about it.

What was your old name?

I'm fairly sure the mods/admins might have been able to recover your old profile, if you gave them details like profile name and e-mail associated with it.

It was easier to make a new name. It's been like a year since I've been here, I think I had maybe 20 posts....no big deal for me. It's not like I lost access to my social security log on.

I just do not understand why people are so quick to jump down my throat for sharing something I think is new and interesting about one of the supporting cast members of Trek.

I mean really, if Patrick Stewart or William Shatner were doing a project, it would honestly be all over every Trek board as "news".

Shouldn't we, as Trek fans, support all the Family's projects and pass the news along to our fellow fans so that they might support something they think is worthwhile? It's not "selling" anything. It's supporting the Arts. The same as if you donate to PBS or The Philharmonic. But it's a smaller, independent project that needs word or mouth (or keyboard) support. So rather than chastising me for choosing this topic as my 1st post, maybe pass the word along to other Trek fans? I'd do the same if Nana Visitor was staging a musical or Brent Spiner a comedy (and seriously, if he EVER starts a Kickstarter to put "Fresh Hell" on DVD or produce full episodes, I am SO there!)

^It's not so much what you're doing than the way you did it that irks (some of) us.

I may have put on a bit of weight but there's no reason to address me in the plural* -I'm not royalty you know...

Doesn't matter who does the selling: you do realize how absolutely weird it sounds to us- don't you?

Cool -welcome back!
But... errhmm... most other posters who have forgotten their old e-mail addy or their old password start off by letting us know what their nick used to be... you can see that we get a bit suspicious about an old member that doesn't even do that, don't you?

I see nothing wrong with passing along information about a great project that Trekkies/Trekkers can get involved in and support a Trek Alumni that's very active and entertaining on the convention circuit.
Absolutely nothing wrong in that -only we usually know whom this sort of information comes from and it's usually someone we know -not some mysterious visitation from the past.

Right, we do speak Trek around here -but rarely in every post.

It still remains your only reason (as far as we can tell) to re-register as a member: to get us to pay money for something (that' isn't even a product!?)

_____________
*) and it makes you sound like an ad on TV :(

Well TrekkieDane, sorry is all my "Trek Speak" doesn't meet your approval and I didn't follow your clique rules.

Didn't mean to spill my nerdism all over your board.
Lemme get a towel and clean that up for ya....shouldn't leave a stain.

Also if "I'm not selling anything myself, and I don't make a profit from it. I'm not selling a thing. Just passing on the information to fellow Klingons and Klingon lovers" sounds "weird" than you've forgotten how much fun it is to be weird!

Seriously, I posted the link on a Klingon board and got replies in Klingon. It was so much fun.

We know it can't be helped at times as we all started out as Cadets, but I guess quite a few poeple are suspicous of this type of post from cadets. I suspect if it was an Ensign less eyebrows would be rasied.

Not saying it's right.

It's all cool :bolian: (well, except for getting my nick wrong (as any member would know :p ))

Weird is the name of the game here in 'Misc. -it's just too weird that it's in your first post and not in your fivehundredandthirtyfirst... if you get my meaning.

Anyways...
As I said: Welcome back!

Well, I saw the project and said "Wow I need to let others know about this....to the INTERNETS!" And posted on a few boards, all of which welcomed the information warmly, since Martok is such a beloved character.

This is the first board that I got negative responses from, which says something.

Also, as far as the comment as paying for something (or nothing), it's "sponsoring". You get a "thank you" reward as well.

Anyway, this has been exhausting. I post a little link about a cool project by a cool actor and I'm stuck defending myself like I'm a criminal. If this is how all newbies are treated, or returning members in my case, then you really need to be more welcoming, and really READ what someone posts and consider what it is before accusing them of things and jumping into the fray of the internet mob.

Just your bad luck to catch me :rommie:

Or ours for having a board that actually does attract a lot of unwanted solicitation :ouch:

But that's the best part of the internet!

Well, that and the porn...

Why don't you stick around and introduce yourself in the new members thread, and join some of the other discussions? People jump to conclusions all the time but there's no reason we can't all get to know each other.

Welcome to the board, and I look forward to seeing more contributions from you. :)
