...and I really miss the dark edge that David Tennant's Kilgrave brought to the show.

This has been the biggest criticism the season has gotten that I've read around the Internet and one I agree with to an extent. Several villains are presented throughout the season with varying degrees of success and none of them have come close to the gravitas and danger of Kilgrave. However, at the same time, David Tennant and the writers set a very high bar, one that even the films are compared to, so I don't think it's entirely fair to judge the second so harshly in that regard.

To be clear, I'm not suggesting that you are, rather I'm addressing a larger point that I've seen come up a lot and I expect will come up in this thread.

Comic nerd alert-- both the Whizzer and Dr. Karl Mallus are from the comics.

Ah, I didn't know that. Which heroes are they usually associated with? They're not in Alias or The Pulse (the first two Jessica Jones titles and the only ones I've read of hers).

Whizzer was originally a WW2 hero and before the Magneto retcon he was believed to be Wanda and Pietro's father. Note that JJ's Whizzer's yellow jacket and blue backpack match the colors of comic Whizzer's costume. This a "name only" situation.

However, Dr. Karl Malus is indeed his comics self. A mad scientist who worked with the Power Broker, a crimlnal who gave folks powers for money, who originally appeared in Jessica Drew's book back in the day.

Finished season 1 last night and watched the first episode of season 2 this afternoon. Really good start.

While the show is violent, I don't get the same violence feeling as I do watching the other series. Those elements from Season 1 are brought back to season 2 and I appreciate that. Also, I do think this is the best supporting cast of the Marvel Netflix shows, but I wonder if we will see Foggy (Is that is name?) again. Wasn't he working for Hogarth after Daredevil Season 2?

For the sake of not wanting spoilers and I’m only on episode 3, have we seen Griffen before? We go from Trish being drugged to adrinaline and almost dying to her having a new boyfriend. I don’t remember seeing him in Defenders either.

I'm really loving how this season is coming together. Episode 7 was awesome but I do wonder something

how long before Kilgrave was the flashbacks. I'm hoping they tie this to season 1 somehow.

After all the mystism of Daredevil and Iron Fist, it's good to come back to the grounded world of this series.

He has a pet mongoose and in the comics the Whizzer got his powers from a mongoose ( it was the Golden Age...things were weirder then)

Interestingly, they changed his last name. That being said, Whizzer also got his powers through Mongoose blood, so the pet mongoose is a reference to that.

However, Dr. Karl Malus is indeed his comics self. A mad scientist who worked with the Power Broker, a crimlnal who gave folks powers for money, who originally appeared in Jessica Drew's book back in the day.

He most recently appeared in Captain America: Sam Wilson's book where he turned Sam into a werewolf. I looked it up and he's a shared character between Sony and Marvel where either can use him.

Anyway, I liked season two a lot, but it's a very subtle show. I think the sideplots could have been stronger or connected more firmly to the main plot, but it was a fascinating season if not always thrilling.

I've got two episodes left and I have to say, without seeing The Punisher yet, this season has solidified JJ as my favorite of the Netflix Marvel shows. They have done a masterful job going into the backstories of Jessica (And Trish) and after watching episodes like episode 7 and 11, the way this season has come together has been great. I also love those little easter eggs, like:

Jessica sitting with Trish watching the movie in Episode 7 as a call back to episode 1, or finding out that the monster who attacked Jessica was actually her mother.

It was also great to see Kilgrave back. It is interesting. I wouldn't say this season had a villain like Kilgrave from season 1, but if there was a villain, it might have just been Jessica's past and how it still haunts her. Episode 11 really did bring this out in more ways than one.

Finished season 2. Really enjoyed this season. I actually don’t hate Trish as much as I guess fandom does. The character development this season was really great.

I noticed his name in the credits. Nice to see him on screen again. It didn't click for me. Maybe I have other things on my mind.

Well that was... underwhelming.

It has the same problem as all the Netflix MCU shows do of being 5 episodes too long and consequently it feels rather aimless. It's not bad, Krysten Ritter and Carrie-Anne Moss are great, and at the very least I can't say that I was bored like the last two shows I watched(Iron Fist and Defenders, haven't seen The Punisher yet), but it's basically just 13 hours of everyone making really bad decisions, which would be fine if it didn't often feel as if the reason for those decisions was to just move the plot along. I do love me some noir, and the atmosphere is there so it was watchable, but I dunno, just didn't click for me this time, felt a bit to forced...

I’m half-way through season 1 and I have become a little addicted. It’s definitely not my type of show (dark and depressing) but I’m really enjoying it. I already know that season 2 won’t be as good as the first because you can’t top Kilgrave as a villain but I’m still looking forward to watching more.

Update: Finished season 1. It was awesome!

Just finished it, for me it did not have quite the same impact as season 1.
However in total I find Jessica Jones to be the best Netflix-Marvel show.
I am much more interested to find out what happens next for Jessica, then Matt or Luke.
