ABC has announced their schedule for next season and Jeri Ryan is one of the co-stars in Body of Proof, a new drama series starring Dana Delaney. Here's ABC's description:

BODY OF PROOF

Dr. Megan Hunt (Dana Delany) was in a class of her own, a brilliant neurosurgeon at the top of her game. But her world is turned upside down when a devastating car accident puts an end to her time in the operating room. Megan resumes her career as a medical examiner, determined to solve the puzzle of who or what killed the victims. Her instincts are sharp, but she’s developed a reputation for graying the lines of where her job ends and where the police department’s begins. It turns out her career isn’t the only thing that will need to be rebuilt; Megan’s family has taken a backseat to her ambition, and now she’s discovering there’s a lot of work to do when it comes to dissecting her relationships with the living. Dana Delany stars as Dr. Megan Hunt, Jeri Ryan as Dr. Kate Murphy, Geoffrey Arend as Dr. Elliot Gross, John Carroll Lynch as Detective Bud Morris, Windell Middlebrooks as Dr. Curtis Brumfield, Nic Bishop as Peter Dunlap and Sonja Sohn as Detective Samantha Baker. “Body of Proof” is from ABC Studios. Christopher Murphey wrote the pilot, which was directed by Nelson McCormick. Murphey and Matt Gross serve as executive producers.

The series is scheduled to air on Fridays at 9.00pm.

They gave it the dead zone. :p

On the bright side, J/7 boards are already cranking into gear for Megan/Kate fanfic. ;)

Kates last program, Mercy, was recently axed. It was a very average medical show focusing on the nurses rather than doctors. Kate played the mum of one of the nurses - she wasn't in it very often or very much, but did "milk" each scene for what it was worth.

Looking forward to Body of Proof - Dana Delany is one of my favourite actresses - since China Beach days.

I really liked Jeri Ryan in Shark - sure she had scant screentime in some episodes and her character could've been fleshed out more, but she was still an important supporting cast member, measuring up well enough with veteran former A-lister James Woods. Shark deserved more seasons than Heroes did.

Dr. Megan Hunt... <snip>... a medical examiner, determined to solve the puzzle of who or what killed the victims. Her instincts are sharp, but she’s developed a reputation for graying the lines of where her job ends and where the police department’s begins.

hmm, sounds more than a little like Quincy.

from Wikipedia:

The series starred Jack Klugman as Dr. Quincy, a strong-willed, very principled Medical Examiner (forensic pathologist) for the Los Angeles County Coroners Office, working to ascertain facts about and reasons for possible suspicious deaths.

In his investigations, Quincy frequently comes into conflict with his boss, Dr. Robert Asten (John S. Ragin), and the police, in particular, LAPD Homicide Lieutenant Frank Monahan (Garry Walberg). Each have their own (often flawed) ideas about what's going on and about Quincy's deductions.
