Jeri Ryan in Mortal Kombat????

I'm keeping an open mind, but I'll admit the trailer seems a little "meh" right now. It has too much of a CSI feel to it. And while I have a lot of respect for Jeri as an actress and I think she's very attractive, she wouldn't be my first choice as Sonya. There's too little of her in the clip to really make any sort of judgment, but I just don't tend to think of her as being the action girl sort. Compared to someone like, say, Angelina Jolie whom I think can portray either an action character or a cerebral character.

I second that!

Besides, there's always a straying from the original storyline when a movie comes out based on it. I can deal. ;)
Not always. The one that came out in the 90's was pretty damn good at keeping its originality. Althought there we're a few quirks, it was still done with a good job. I think it was good because Ed Boon kept supervising it.
They didn't even try to cover up the fact that French actor Christoper Lambert was playing what was supposed to be Asian when they cast him as Raiden.
oh yeah i forgot about that. Eh, he was still a good Raiden and followed his character pretty well. Yeah he didn't fight but he wasn't supposed to. :p

Why do some people think Jeri Ryan is too old for Sonya Blade? 40 is the new 30 and Michael Jai White is slightly older than her, though it seems like she doesn't need to be a martial arts expert and mostly uses guns.
Good point.

...or they could just use a stunt double for her fighting scenes. It's not like they haven't done this type of stuff before.

Jeri is in good physical shape. I'm pretty sure she could do most of her own scenes.
I don't doubt it but is she trained in the martial arts to pull off a proper fight scene? That's the question.

....but as I said, she doesn't have too unless she wants too. They can always insert a stunt double. Usually most of the other "masked" characters are just that.

I would most certainly check this flick out. How can one go wrong with Mortal Kombat and Jeri Ryan mixed together?

She's got Leverage to fall back on, plus that Mortal Kombat: Reborn trailer was quite high profile anyway so she'll perhaps find it easier to get roles in cop thrillers, ect.
