Just right to get into the mood for the new season. And it works. :)

It was actually shot this morning. If you go to the Abbey Road website they have a webcam and you can watch it being shot starting at 7.45am

OMG. Clara's not wearing shoes. She's Dead!

(That's a reference to the "Paul is dead" theory, not a spoiler. Or is it? Who knows. Who. *Nose.*)

Just noticed they even got the white Beetle and black Cab in there. That's going the extra mile.

Yeah, but the rear Dalek is leaning in the exact position of a dying yeti from the Rutland Book Of The Dead, so it could go either way...

For me, other than Ian or Susan, the only "old" companion I would like to see again is Ace.
Yep.

And I want RTD to write that story. Whatever the story was for her return when the SJA were going on. His original premise obviously surrounded that show, but I like to think he can mutate it for a Twelfth Doctor reunion story. And comment how similar/different he looks to her "Professor". I'd seriously love this.

That said, I'd also love to see Jo Grant back. Just for the sake of bringing her properly in the show back - although she did meet the Eleventh Doctor in Death of the Doctor.

Her story wasn't tied up properly and, if the plan to have her be a "time lord-in-training", it would be interesting to see what became of her. I suspect there's probably a lot of Big Finish material writers wouldn't want to conflict with, however.
I doubt RTD would willingly contradict BF, given his affection and admiration for them, especially during the Wilderness Years. But, it would indeed be a great step forward for this character, and if written by RTD, in an interesting way I bet.

Of course, there's always Romana, who is oft-discussed on here. But since she always has the option of regenerating, anyone could play her. Of course her slant would be how/why did she leave E-space, was she president of Gallifrey and if so, how did she survive the Time War?
The show wouldn't even really need to delve to that BF history - just an oft reference to it in an off-hand manner during a conversation. But largely, the curio would indeed be on how she survived the Time War - and if she was brought back without Gallifrey, the time lock/pocket universe.

There really isn't anyone else left who's either compelling enough to return, who doesn't have story conflict with a return or who's actor is still alive or willing to return.
Well, I mentioned Jo, but I wouldn't actually mind if she didn't come back.

So really, my personal choices would be Ian, Susan, Ace and maybe Romana. I'd love to see Jamie, and Vicki respectively (particularly Jamie), if they did a story in their time periods and not for the sake of seeing them again.

Leela's fate it tied with the Companion Chronicles - I think she was resurrected into a little girl afte the Time War? Can't tell for sure.

And Tegan had a tumor in BF's The Gathering, though I'm not sure if she survived it, since it turned out to be an alien living in her brain (!).

Now, Mel... she was a great companion under BF, and her fate could be touched upon if wanted by NuWho... but she's not the most popular of companions, is she?

If Methos (5000+ years old in the Highlander TV series) can remember his time as one of the Four Horsemen in ancient Sumeria, why can't the Doctor remember his first human friend from less than 2000 years previously?
Because the Doctor has ADHD? And has walked the universe from one end of it the the other countless times?

Methos couldn't remember his actual age, but he was still just an earthbound guy. The Doctor's brain and life just works on a totally different level.

Like others have said, it's probably still in his head. He just needs time to sort it out amongst everything else in there.
Methos was born in a time when most people were illiterate, and hardly anyone kept track of their ages. According to Wikipedia, Methos said his memory got a bit "fuzzy" in the years before he "took his first head." But that's still several millennia of memories he's got.

I can't think of one person who ever said they liked Mel.

This Doctor does 900 years spent on Trenzalore, which is a long time for anyone to spent on one place. But I doubt he won't, absolutely, remember Ian, Barbara and Susan. Those travels should be his most fondly remembered!

I can't think of one person who ever said they liked Mel.
Big Finish really did make the character work, though. Just listen to Fires of Vulcan or The Juggernauts.

I always liked Mel (partially from nostalgia, partially because we have the same name, although shortened from another) but I've loved her appearances in the Big Finish stories.

You still can't really compare the Doctor and Methos. The Doctor has done so much more with his life, been to so many different times and places across the ENTIRETY of time and space...not to mention the whole regeneration thing. Becoming a new person, yet still tied to the person you were, and most of the time it goes a bit wonky. He couldn't even tell the difference between Clara and Strax when he regenerated into Twelve, at least until his brain returned to normal.

Methos is just a guy that's been living on Earth. A very long time, yes, but he's had significantly less to occupy himself with compared to a guy who bounces all around the whole universe and in between timelines.

At the time we didn't know how uncool angora/mohair cat sweaters were.

Hells, at the time we thought Ace was dressed like a cool rebellious street kid.

From this side of History Mel look's like a Nana, and Ace looks like she's trying way too hard.
