I think Carrie Fisher broke a couple generations, who since then, continue to confuse a belligerent personality for inner beauty.

Maybe in Episode IX, when during the climactic battle, Leia raises her hands and freezes every soldier, fighter and blaster bolt in their tracks showing that she was actually the most powerful Skywalker ever; She just never had much use for such displays of power. It seems a little "Wesley Crusher" to me but Kylo did set the groundwork for some kind of Force version of that scenario.
