I just finished Sword of Damocles, and I has certainly cemented Titan's place on my favorites list. I really enjoyed pretty much everything about it, the characterisations were spot, the writing was great, and I really liked the Orishans.
I know alot of people complained about the stuff with the tesereact, but I really didn't have a problem with it. Although that could simply be because I didn't really focus alot of energy on figuring it out, I pretty much just read the descriptions and moved on.
I must say that I am really dissapointed to see Jaza and Ra-Havreii go, because I thought that Geoffrey Thorne really did some great stuff with them in this book. Especially Jaza, who was very much the focus of this book. IMHO the book did a really great job of fleshing out his backstory, which I personally found really interesting. But that really isn't be suprising, because that seems to be how things allways work out in TV series at least. The episode (or in this case book) that gives the character some of their best moments and develops them the most is almost always that characters final appearance.
But these characters weren't the only ones to get some interesting developtment, we also got a fair amount of development for Vale, Huilan, and Dakal, and even learned a new tidbit of information about Ree and his people. Speaking of Ree, I really hope we get a book that does for him what this book did for Jaza, because every little tidbit of information we get about him only makes me want to learn more. I know the chances of this are pretty slim, but I would love to see either Titan or one of the other ships go the Pahkwa-thanh home world so that we can get a worldbuilding novle all about them. Then maybe on visiting S'ti'ach homeworld, and then the Choblik homeworld. LOL ok so I want to learn more about all of the new aliens from Titan.
