Jay Leno's Green Car Challenge

I know there are a few Top Gear viewers on this board who were (maybe) looking forward to this segment on Leno's show. I'm not a fan of Leno at all, but really wanted to see if he'd channel the best of Top Gear and give us something cool given his gearhead tendencies. I caught the debut of this segment tonight with Drew Barrymore behind the wheel. Three words...

Pure. Hollywood. Garbage.

I want that two minutes of my life back. If you were expecting something like Top Gear's Star in a Reasonably Priced Car segment, you'd be dead wrong. Instead of an actual challenge on a track, you get a star driving around the parking lot through a makeshift obstacle course with obnoxiously bright colors, floating Al Gore and Ed Begley Jr. cutouts and streamers and crap shooting out everywhere. You can tell whoever made this up has kids because they were surely inspired by Fisher Price toys in designing the pile of crap track. :wtf:

I thought Leno's new show was shit to begin with. This segment pretty much ensures I won't be watching again since it's obvious nothing entertaining's going to come out of it.

I only tuned in for Headlines and I listened to the monologue every so often.

Jay Leno is a LOT better in person though in a comedy club and not at anything NBC related.

That whole show is just hit and miss... He got 17 million viewers that first night because he had Kanye West and Oprah. His viewership has gone down to about a 3 share since... although that's still MILLIONS more than NBC was getting in that timeslot, so whether it's mindless dribble or not, it's a winner.

Hey wait, maybe if Jay @ 9 doesn't work out, NBC can pick up Enterprise from CBS for a few more seasons? Might as well at least put something meaningful on.

You know who I feel the worst for in this whole thing? Conan O'Brien. That guy has busted his ass to get where he is and FINALLY gets his chance to be "the guy" and guess what... 3 months later he's on after Jay... again. Kind of pathetic.

I always recorded the first half hour of the tonight show, which was the best part and headlines was best of all. He completely lost whatever edge he had. Robin Williams and Billy Crystal? Maybe if the cardboard cutouts were easier to hit.
