I always found it fun and a decent follow up. But let's be honest...you're setting the bar pretty high by trying to have it measure up to Jaws. I thin that's in The Pacific vs. Band of Brothers territory.

They couldn't get Deryfus, they couldn't realisticly bring back Shaw so they shouldn't of even tried. Those two were the best things about the first movie.

I quite like Jaws. While it's nowhere near as good as the original, it's definitely much better than the films that followed it.

I just noticed they're all OnDemand right now. Watching "Jaws 2" as we speak. Might have some friends over tonight for 3 and 4... but with beer!

I also like that the film didn't borrow too much from its predecessor in that the shark is shown A LOT. The shark served more as a presence in the first movie just before it's finally revealed near the end.

See that's why Jaws (the original movie) is just so damn good... all the horror is inside our head. We know how a shark looks like and we know they are very dangerous animals so we pictured all kinds of gruesome details.

I don't subscribe to modern day filmmaking where very last detail has to be shown.. leave something to the imagination.

The same principle applied to Alien.. we rarely see it but when we do it's scary as hell.

Jaws 2 was just a lame ripoff without the class of the original as it's almost always the case with sequels.

Wouldn't it be great if there was an MST3k episode for Jaws 3 and Jaws: The Revenge?

On Friday afternoon on my lunch break, I went down to FYI and purchased Jaws 3 and Jaws: The Revenge on DVD for $5 each. I watched 3, it's still meh. I can definitely see how it had potential. It could have been a fun, exciting movie, but it strays much too far from the mother ship.

Jaws: The Revenge - better than Jaws 3, but not by much. It's at least entertaining to watch for its camp. And come on, a roaring shark?! Bring on the popcorn!

My favorite part of the movie is when the shark follows Mike into the sunken ship. <Spock>Logic dictates</Spock> the shark should have died in there. If you notice, there's not enough space for it to turn around and swim back out and great whites certainly cannot swim backwards. However, this is the same shark that somehow followed the family to the Bahamas and made the trip in about a day.

I lost my head there.

I hate Jaws 4. I've always enjoyed 3 while recognizing its corniness, but "Revenge" is just garbage to me. It's so dumb. The shark is so intelligent that I'm surprised he didn't construct some kind of land suit, come out of the water and attack them while they slept in the beach house.
