One of the stars of "Stargate: Atlantis" got his face ripped open in a ferocious bar fight -- and now the man who allegedly did the attacking has officially been charged with a crime.

Jason Momoa, who appeared on shows like "Baywatch" and "Stargate: Atlantis" received 140 stitches after Dominic Bando allegedly cracked him in the face with a pint glass at a West Hollywood cafe last week. Cops say the whole thing escalated after "a verbal altercation" earlier in the night.

Bando, who was already on probation for after he was convicted of gun charges in March, will be arraigned December 10. He could get up to seven years in state prison.

Damn they might have to work in a wraith fight in the Atlantis Movie to cover for his broken face.
 
Momoa is like 6'8" solid muscle, and dreadlocks. What part of that makes someone think it's a good idea to go after him? At least we went for what was probably a surprise attack, the guy must have been pretty hammered. I hope he gets the seven years.

Well actually as of last year the dreads are fake. He cut them off shortly before season five started filming.

I thought he said he cut them off, but kept the dreads so they can be reapplied when the season began. Like, the ones they use on the show are still his real hair.

I wonder what he looks w/o them.
 
What sort of utter lunatic is going to pick a fight with Jason Momoa ?

I hope he gets better quickly and this guy does a long stretch, probably in a psychiatric institution.

Here's a pic of him sans dreads

Jason was at a con this past weekend, he wore dark glasses the whole time because most of the damage is around his eyes but apparently he looks pretty good.
 
^Yes, it's clearly visible in the show.

I vaguely recall at some point them adding to it in an episode. I always figured that it was a count of how many Wraith he'd killed.
 
^I figure it's like Katee Sackhoff's tattoos - they've taken her real tattoos and added to them in the show.
 
Cool scars will probably get him even more work, Micheal Ironside hardly got any work before he fell through a glass door.
