January Challenge - Down. But Not Out

To begin with, a big shout out to Thor Damar who gave us a challenging challenge that produced some truly terrific stories. My thanks again to all who voted for my story. (I still don't quite believe it.)
On to the matter at hand. Not sure why I opted for this idea, but it is what has occurred to me and given the time constraints due to the run off I don't want to delay.

The theme is 'Down. But Not Out'. Your heroes, be they canon, OC, or what not from the Trek universe, tell a story about overcoming the odds, about sticking it out, not giving up, fighting til the last and maybe, just maybe still in with a chance. Word limit of 7,000 words.

Let's say we end it at midnight on Monday the 31st of January. [Unless you feel that is too short a period, but otherwise we run into the short month of February.] Get writing.

Hm...I'll have to think. This will be tough, because I've already written the pivotal moments for AU Dukat and Gul Berat, that would qualify for this. I'll have to see if I can get another character to tell me a story (that I can tell without spoiling stuff)...and that might be a tough one.

Ooh, this challenge is right up the Undesirables alley, they are almost always have to overcome great odds to complete their missions. Will visit the Dominion War for this I think.

Congratulations mirandafave! That is a nice challange you came up with. Not sure, if I can make it, because of examinations (till the 28th and between 28th and 31th is not a lot room), but certainly looking forward to read those stories, that will come out of it.

The one who does want to tell a story, unfortunately, would be giving out a major spoiler if I let that character do it. So we'll have to see if another idea grabs me.

About time there was an opportunity to write about a Starfleet science vessel getting its comeuppance rather than flitting away relatively unscathed from a Keldon-Class cardassian cruiser (or whomever).

I'm not sure if it meets the Challenge's requirements. Those requirements are in the story but they are not the main subject--the point of the story is different. Anyway, if this disqualifies the story from the contest, I still hope you're going to read it and like it

Well...a story has now come from a COMPLETELY different universe than what I was expecting! It's still related to one of my universes, but you'll see the difference in this one once it's posted. So--I now have a work in progress!
