Janeway's Perfect Mate

Who's Janeway's perfect mate?

True dat, about Workforce, but i see that all before since I'm pretty certain Kathy invited Amelia Erhart to come home with them AS HER GIRLFRIEND?

Comapre the (pickup) lines the Captain used on Amelia and Jaffen?

It's the same retreaded wank that ain't getting her no where! if it wasn't for the reset button and laying down a little continuity, maybe Janeway could figure out how to get herself a boyfriend or girlfriend without paying them with puppies.

Chakotay definately and no question. I don't think he was as dull as some say, and in my experience someone who likes to make sure his woman has her every need attended to (bar the sex which he couldn't give her) is usually good in bed. He just had that glint in his eye which told me he was quite exciting underneath all that stoic behaviour he felt he required in order to help her run the ship. I thought she was much the same underneath the captain mask. They complimented each other imo. He seemed a little bit like her ex man Mark, only Chakotay was a bit more exciting. Mark was only in a few small scenes but from what I saw he seemed nice, but very dull. Yes, Chakotay definately should have pounced on her as soon as they got home, I don't think she would have complained too much. Especially if you take into account the conversation and action they took in the 'Full Circle' book.:)

Kathryn Janeway was a lot of things but I don't think she would have considered a relationship with a psycho like Kashyk even if she was stirred by him.

Jaffen gave me the creeps more than Kashyk. Probably because there were very slight aspects of his personality which reminded me of a lucky escape I had once. I don't know whether it was that he was desperate or insecure or what, but if a man I had been dating a matter of days asked me to move in with him and then proceeded to be rude to anyone I cared about, (family or friend) he wouldn't last another 5 mins in a relationship with me I'm afraid. He came across as possesive and jealous, I hate that in men. Maybe I'm reading too much into it, because no one else on here seems to have seen it in him, and people obviously think he was good for her. I just like to take into account the fact that she was brainwashed and once rescued I was relieved it was over. It never sat well with me did that episode, that aspect of it anyway.

Q would be a fun mate for her I suppose too.

But he was already with Seven of Nine by that point.

Do you really think that she would delete the Borg?

Oh wow.

Maybe that's why Admiral Janeway was so more guilty over Sevens death than the rest? She ahd wanted the Indian and after all it is her SOP to annihilate other females with naked rights to her... O? Were Seska and Chakotay circling each other ready to pounce on again off again on again off again in the early days of being lost in the DQ that Chuckles was designated too paired off and unavailable to bed the captain? More so if Kathy had tried to steal that Cardassian Bitch's indian beefcake, well: win or lose... Wouldn't that explain everything Seska did for the next two years? And Ol'Chuckles might've been none the wiser if both tham ballbusters were playing a zero sum game that if they couldn't have him then no one could... What do you call cock blocking when girls do it? Vage vading? I have no idea, but it's the same p-rinciple as romans poisoning wells to difficult to take and hold.

I think that, like my horribly perfectionist Mom, Janeway will die alone. She can't live with anyone.

I do think that Chakotay was understanding enough that he would have lived in the dog house on regular occasion when needed to make it work, though.

Lets look at his taste in women?

Y'know in descending order of how sexivishly offense they are to general decency.

Seska was a liar.
Virgina Madsen proximately raped minds remotely.
Janeway was a murderer
Marla Gilmore was a serial killer
Riley was a Mass Murderer
Seven of Nine was a megamurderer.
Valerie Archer attempted Universal Omnicide.

Lets face it, no matter what "heat" you want to invent about Chuckles and Kathy hooking up... She's just not enough of a badgirl for him.

^^^ That's not the most interesting theory I've ever heard about Chakotay but I'd have to think a veeery long time to recall one less uhm . . . conventional . . .

Off the top of head I top myself.

In "the Fight" it is supposed that Chakotay learned a new language via another conversationalist beating the crap out of him. The two of them had a dialog through beatings. To talk is to beat, to beat is to talk. One could as easily suppose that Chakotay did not at this point in time learn this language right "then" but Kathryn had been schooling him in the underlying principles of figuring out what someone really means every time they sucker punch you in the kidneys when you just want a hug for the past 6 years.

I don't quite remember where I heard this line, some movie but "My God! You're BEAUTIFUL! ...Do you have a daughter?" In many ways, that were taken as rote but barely any on screen evidence was supplied on screen, Janeway and Seven had a mother daughter relationship despite being around about the same age ballpark wise. So many wise lines were crossed with this relationship.

Well, I agree with you, and I believe that every episode guide would agree with you too. He was the type of guy that locks up his partner at night.

I had to look at this not on Janeway's preference, and certainly not the other person's preference. Rather, who was selfless enough to put up with her. I think that even the computer construct had too much of an ego to deal with her crap all the time. Chakotay, due to his calm demeanor, is likely the only one that could put up with it long enough for a long term relationship. Seven would end up killing her after about a week.

I never read any of the episode guides. I always thought it was just me who had that opinion, going on all the posts I read on various forums about how wonderful Jaffen was for her. To each their own I suppose, but I certainly wouldn't put up with it and don't believe Janeway would have done in normal circumstances. So anyway, thanks. It's good to know it isn't just me.:)

Jaffen had a problem that shall we say made a relationship with a human female difficult.

JAFFEN: All of them about my father and he couldn't understand why I wasn't insulted. Finally I just had to tell him. I'm Norvalen, I don't have a father! It wasn't that funny, Tuvok.
TUVOK: On the contrary. The man was ignorant of how your species procreates. His attempt to disparage you ultimately humiliated him. Irony is often a source of humour.
JAFFEN: Yes, well, when you explain it like that, it's not funny at all.

I personally think Jaffen was missing something.

I voted for Jaffen. Seemed natural. But Q would have been good. He could have sent Voyager home, kept Janeway's scientific curiosity titillated, and granted whatever other humanitarian favors she could come up with, plus eternal youth if she so desired.

Since J/7 is so popular, it could be argued that most people don't think Janeway would have minded! ;)

She loved him for his wit. Unlike Tuvok.
