The Romulan bridge changed every time we saw one - the one in 'Contagion' was extremely minimalistic while the one in 'The Die Is Cast' was very elaborate.

I have no idea whether or not we're considering that as canon, but it's taken from the Star Trek fact files, showing that this isn't necessarily down to sexism.
